HRT, goodbye to F1 – Formula 1

La HRT will not participate in the 1 F2013 World Championship. The Spanish team, which occupies the unenviable leadership of a team that repeatedly entered the track without gaining points, did not find new buyers and therefore had to say goodbye to the Circus. Let's get to know him shorter together story.

The first (and so far only) Iberian Formula 1 team was founded under the name Hispania former Valencian driver Adrian Campos (best result - 14th place with Minardi in 1987), capable person in the team Kampos Meta win two F3 titles in the Spanish Championship and the European Open.

The stable is immediately sold to the entrepreneur. Jose Ramon Karabantewhich he renamed Hispania Racing team (hence the abbreviation HRT): Dallara is contacted about the frame design, for i Cosworth engines and the Brazilian was chosen as the first rider Bruno Sennabest known for his kinship (Ayrton was his mother's brother) and his sponsor (La Embratel, the second telephone company in the South American country) and for its performance in the minor categories.

The first season, in 2010, starts badly: in January, the team announces that it cannot participate in the winter tests, and in February it is appointed sports director. Colin Kolles (just from the experience of three unsuccessful teams, Jordan, Midland and Spyker), and only on March 4, a week before the debut Grand Prix, the name of the second rider was announced. Indian Karun Chandhok he is another rookie but boasts (slightly) richer palm trees than his teammate since he won Formula Renault V6 Asia four years ago.

Single room F110 runs his first laps during the free practice of the first race in Bahrain: Senna finishes in qualifying more than 9 seconds behind Pole Vettel, while Chandok makes it even worse, almost 11 seconds behind. The Indian occupies two fourteenth places (so far the best result of the team) in Melbourne and Monte Carlo, and Senna is replaced by the Japanese. Sakon Yamamotoafter two bad seasons with Super Aguri and Spyker.

Bruno is recalled at the next Grand Prix in Germany and Yamamoto replaces Chandok until he has to give way to the Austrian. Christian Klien in Singapore due to food poisoning. Sakon returns to race at home tests in Suzuka and Korea (where Senna is still 14th, which is useful for staying ahead of the Virgin World Rankings), but Klien is back as owner in the last two races.

2010 ends with many unfulfilled promises: there is talk of Ferrari engines (which were not available before), trials with GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado (already in contact with Williams), and even an agreement with Toyota to supply the (never used) TF110. a year earlier. The Japanese house, seeing no money, blows up everything. But that's not all: HRT is giving up FOTA (Formula Teams Association, the association that collects the stables of the Circus) denounces the disrespect for small teams, but the real reason is the non-payment of the registration fee for this year.

On the other hand, the quality of pilots is improving: Indian Narain Kartikeyan (18th place at the 2005 World Championship with Jordan) and our Vitantonio Liuzzi (15th place a year earlier in Force India) has achieved interesting results during the season. Two single cars F111 they did not qualify for the first race of the year in Australia, but already in Canada, Liuzzi's thirteenth place (best ever for the team) allows him to close for the second straight year ahead of Virgin.

At Silverstone, Cartikeyan, who is guilty of being slower than Liuzzi, is replaced by an Australian. Riccardo (winner of the prestigious British Formula 3 Championship two years earlier). During the same period, the company Thesan Capital acquires most of the team. The young overseas racer immediately finds himself more talented than Liuzzi, who only gives the wheel to Kartikeyan for a test in India.

At the end of 2011, Colin Colles leaves the bridge and is soon replaced by a former Spanish driver. Luis Perez-Sala (28th in the 1 F1989 World Championship with Minardi). For the 2012 season, the most talented rider ever for this team is selected: the Iberian Pedro de la Rosa (11th place at the 2006 World Championship with McLaren) who happens to be next to Kartikeyan.

In the first race of the season in Australia, the two F112s are not allowed to race as they qualify too slowly and the team has been disappointing with already low expectations throughout the season. HRT closes last in the standings for the first time and is ranked 15th by Kartikeyana in Monte Carlo as the best place.
