HUD - display on the windshield

HUD - head-up display

It is not an active security system, but a component of it. An optical system that allows images and data to be projected onto a transparent screen, usually a windshield, that is in front of the driver's eyes. A modern example is the Night Vision, but there's no shortage of older examples like the 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, which practically projected dashboard data.

While this component is not a true safety device as it cannot directly affect vehicle dynamics, it still allows the driver to observe all of the useful driving data at a glance, thereby reducing dangerous distractions that can create hazardous situations. ...
