Worst emergency braking systems among electricians: Porsche Taycan and VW e-Up [ADAC study]

The German company ADAC has tested emergency braking systems on the latest car models. It turned out that the Porsche Taycan achieved the worst result among electric vehicles with such mechanisms. Only the VW e-Up, which ... does not have this technology at all, was weaker than it.

Emergency braking systems are designed to help the driver in difficult situations. When suddenly a person appears on the street - a child? cyclist? – every fraction of a second saved in reaction time can affect the health or even the life of an inattentive road user.

> SWEDEN. Tesle from the list of the safest cars. They hit ... too few accidents

In the ADAC test, round zero was reached on cars that do not offer this feature at all: the DS 3 Crossback, Jeep Renegade and the Volkswagen e-Up / Seat Mii Electric / Skoda CitigoE iV trio. However, the Porsche Taycan got into the head the most:

Porsche Taycan: bad reaction and poorly designed seats (!)

Well, the electric Porsche had trouble with emergency braking when driving at 20 km / h and below. And yet we are talking about a car that has to stop at a distance of 2-4 meters in this range, which is less than the length of a conventional car!

But that is not all. ADAC also criticized the Taycan for the seats. According to experts, their upper part was poorly designed, therefore there is a risk of injury to the cervical spine in the event of a collision for both front and rear passengers (source).

> Does Tesla accelerate by itself? No. But braking for no reason is already happening to them [video]

The leader of the ranking was the Volkswagen T-Cross (95,3%), the second was the Nissan Juke, and the third was the Tesla Model 3. If only electric vehicles were excluded from the table, the ADAC rating would be as follows (along with the results):

  1. Tesla Model 3 - 93,3 percent,
  2. Tesla Model X – 92,3%,
  3. Mercedes EQC - 91,5 percent,
  4. Audi e-tron - 89,4 percent,
  5. Porsche Taycan - 57,7 percent

VW e-Up, Skoda CitigoE iV and Seat Mii Electric received 0 percent.
