Hyundai and Ford Win 2021 North American Car & Truck of the Year Award

Ford F-150, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Elantra were the main winners of this year's NACTOY Awards.

The Hyundai Elantra sedan, Ford F-150 pickup truck and Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV have won the 2021 North American Car, Truck and Utility Awards. The awards were announced on the second Monday of January, but unlike previous years, the advertising was not delivered in person to the Detroit TCF (formerly Cobo Hall). Instead, the news came through a ceremony that was broadcast live due to concerns about the safety of the coronavirus.

As in previous years, neither the jury members nor the manufacturers were aware of the winning cars until the envelopes were opened live on the soundstage in Troy, Michigan.

For most of NACTOY's history, "Car of the Year" has been the main category; in fact, "The Car" still ranks first in the number of awards.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E wins North American Utility of the Year award

This has been arguably the fiercest category this year, with the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E triumphing over the most eligible models in any given category. The Mach-E electric SUV surpassed the Genesis GV80, a refined and highly stylish mid-size car that is the first SUV from the young luxury brand Hyundai, as well as a reborn Land Rover Defender that combines genuine off-road prowess and upright and utilitarian design with striking on-road sophistication.

Hyundai Elantra wins 2021 North American Car of the Year award

The 2021 four-door compact surpassed the impressive new Genesis G80 luxury sedan and the affordable Nissan Sentra for the 2021 North American Car of the Year. The Elantra makes a particularly bold style statement and is available with many safety and convenience features that are hard to find even in more expensive cars. There's also a new dedicated hybrid model that offers up to 54 mpg.

The 2021 Elantra is priced at $20,645 (including destination dollars), proving that you don't have to be expensive to win one of the auto industry's most coveted awards.

2021 North American Truck: Ford F-150

If this year there was any category in which it is easy to predict the winner, then this is it. The 150 Ford F-2021 full-size pickup beat out the Jeep Gladiator Mojave for 2021 North American Truck of the Year. Not that the two extreme FCA SUVs mentioned above aren't worthy vehicles; both are prime examples of quirky trucks designed to excel in challenging environments. It's just that the 2021 Ford F-150 is a completely new generation product. In fact, the Wrangler-based Gladiator pickup won this category in 2020, along with the mid-engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette and the Kia Telluride SUV.

The 150 Ford F-2021 may look similar to last year's truck, but under the skin it's a very different beast, with an available PowerBoost hybrid powertrain, updated cab technology and a revolutionary new Pro.Power Onboard option.

The lightweight F-150 has long been the best-selling car of any type in America, and with the massive improvement in the quality of the F-150's cabin, safety equipment, and overall capability, it's unlikely this latest F-series will go off the rails. crown.
