Hyundai i30 N-line - like a fan who knows everything about sports

Hyundai i30 has come a long way, adequate to the next stages of brand development. It started out as a medium-beautiful mid-finish car. Became compact without complexes. And now she can afford more daring versions.

This bolder version, of course, Hyundai i30 N. Because when you don't have a lot of experience, bringing a completely new version to market - and a version that everyone will judge very harshly in terms of driving experience - is not easy. And even if it were easy, development is not cheap.

Hyundai has created a car that is admired by almost everyone who drives it. This is a real hot hatch, besides, he immediately takes a leading position in this segment.

And although the price is also good, not everyone will dare to pay so much for a Hyundai. Not everyone is looking for extreme driving sensations. But a lot of people like sports cars, and if they had a few more of them, they'd love to buy them. Take a look at the success of the S-line and AMG packages with Audi and Mercedes. They give nothing but a different look and maybe sometimes a different suspension and they come off like hot cakes.

N-line primarily means a different style. We drove Fastback and Hatchback versions. There were other bumpers, 18-inch rims and dual exhaust pipes - on the sides of the fastback, and on the one side of the hatchback. The car also featured a new "N-line" logo.

In addition, the Fastback differs from the hatchback in a slightly different line of LED daytime running lights.

Hyundai i30 is more "fast"

In the interior, sports accessories are again waiting for us. Optionally, we get suede seats with better lateral support and - most importantly - the N-line logo. The perforated leather steering wheel makes a very pleasant impression. The shift knob is similar to the "N" knob and of course also has the logo.

N-line this is a stripped down version, not a package. And in terms of trim level, it is comparable to the mid-level Comfort with some differences. The price includes, for example, a keyless entry system in the car and LED taillights, but no front fog lights.

The 4,2-inch on-board computer color display is free of charge. We also get a retractable thigh support in the chair and metal pedal pads. A radio with an 8-inch display and connectivity to Android and iOS phones is also included, you only need to pay an extra PLN 2000 for navigation. I don't think it's a worthwhile expense, at least not if you're using an iOS phone because I haven't used Android Auto.

Incidentally, Hyundai system has very unique functions. One of them is, for example, a voice recorder. While driving, we can make voice notes to listen to them later. Perhaps if we got used to using it, it might even be useful?

In addition to special items, Hyundai i30 N-line it looks like a regular i30. That means the top of the dash is soft, the materials are nice, and there's enough room in the cabin for four adults. The trunk holds 450 liters.

N-line it is sold with only one engine, a 1.4 T-GDI with 140 hp. The maximum torque is 242 Nm at 1500 rpm. We have a choice of two 6-speed transmissions - automatic and manual.

To my surprise, the N-line has more than just a few nice additions. The brakes are a little bigger here, the suspension has been retuned to give it a sportier look, and the wheels are fitted with excellent Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.

This last move seems simply ingenious in its simplicity. By improving the grip in contact with asphalt, we can improve all of its properties. Riding the N-rope, you can feel its slightly sporty character.

He's fast enough. With the automatic, it hits 100 km/h in 9,4 seconds, and many consider it slow, but that's why I say enough. This is enough to effectively overtake and enjoy cornering.

The driver feels sportier here, and has a slightly sportier suspension setup, but are there noticeable differences? Contrary to appearances, yes. Hyundai i30 N-line it rides exactly like such a “warm hatch” - not radically, and the seat is not dented, but in corners it gives a lot of pleasure.

Still like a bridge between ordinary people i30 and the N version works quite well.

More interesting alternative

one Hyundai i30 N-line does not spring. It's not a sports car or a hot hatch. This is the car of a sports fan who does not want to give all the best.

It's like with fans and athletes. Fans know the rules of the sport, they know what a good game should look like, they know literally everything - only that they do not stand on the field, and after the end of the match they will return home for a burger. During this time, athletes will eat carefully selected meals and think about the next match or competition.

I Hyundai i30 N-line he is such a fan. He knows all about what a hot hatch should be, but it's not. However, having a good hot hatch can be "fun".

Hyundai i30 N-line worth the money PLN 94. For an automatic transmission, you need to pay an additional PLN 900, and for a Fastback body, another PLN 6.
