Hyundai recalls 215,000 Sonatas due to fuel leak problems
Content
The Hyundai Sonata is subject to a new recall for the same reason as the previous recall related to a leaking fuel hose. This time, the cars have brand new fuel hoses rather than heating tape as the brand tried to fix.
Hyundai is recalling the 2013 and 2014 Sonatas over concerns that a faulty fuel hose could cause fuel to leak and catch fire under the hood. If this sounds familiar to you, it's because this is the second round of the recall.
How many vehicles are affected in the second round
This recall affects 215,171 vehicles and specifically affects those vehicles that did not receive a new fuel line during the last recall. Initially, additional heat-reflective tape was applied to the leaking hoses on these vehicles, but this solution appears to have been inadequate.
How Hyundai will repair the damage so that it is now repaired
The new repair process only involves replacing the entire low pressure hose and as this is a recall this work will be done free of charge. Hyundai plans to begin notifying owners of affected vehicles by mail around July 5th.
