Hyundai Xcient. Hydrogen truck. What is the range?
The company plans to ship a total of 50 XCIENT fuel cell models to Switzerland this year, which will be delivered to fleet customers in Switzerland from September. Hyundai plans to deliver a total of 2025 XCIENT fuel cell truck to Switzerland by 1.
The XCIENT is equipped with a 190kW hydrogen fuel cell system with two fuel cell stacks of 95kW each. The seven large hydrogen tanks have a total capacity of about 32,09 kg of hydrogen. The range on a single charge of XCIENT Fuel Cell is approximately 400 km*. The range is optimally tailored to the requirements of potential commercial vehicle fleet customers, taking into account the available charging infrastructure in Switzerland. Refueling time for each truck is approximately 8 to 20 minutes.
Fuel cell technology is particularly well suited for commercial transportation and logistics due to long distances and short refueling times. The dual fuel cell system provides enough power to drive heavy trucks up and down mountainous terrain.

Hyundai Motor is currently working on a mainline tractor capable of traveling 1 km on a single charge. The new tractor will reach global markets, including North America and Europe, thanks to an advanced, durable and powerful fuel cell system.
Hyundai has chosen Switzerland as the starting point for its business venture for a variety of reasons. One of these is the Swiss LSVA road tax for commercial vehicles, from which vehicles with no emissions are exempt. This keeps the transportation cost per kilometer for a fuel cell truck at the same level as for a conventional diesel truck.
