Ile-de-France: e-bikes for long-term rent at 40 euros / month.

The service, dubbed Véligo Location and provided by Ile-de-France Mobilité, will launch in September 2019 and will offer up to 20.000 electric bikes at a price of € 40 per month.

This new service, supported by the Ile-de-France Mobilités, will launch in September 2019 and will be based on a long-term rental of electric bicycles. For 40 euros per month, users will be able to use an electric bike, as well as its service and support in case of repair.

A particularly attractive turnkey formula designed to eliminate purchase brakes and allow users to learn about the use of electric bikes on a daily basis. However, the lease period cannot exceed six months, the purpose of the territory is to “make people want” and convince users to move to the investment phase. A "turnover" that, according to Île-de-France Mobilites, could allow almost 200.000 residents of Île-de-France to experience an electric bike for six years, during which the operation should continue.

A large-scale service created and operated by Fluow, a group of companies that includes La Poste, Transdev, Velogik and Cyclez. Depending on the number of bicycles installed, the total budget for the operation will range from € 61.7 million to € 111 million.

Launched September 2019

For its initial launch, scheduled for September 2019, the service will begin with the provision of 10.000 electric bikes, the characteristics of which are not known at this stage. The park, which will then gradually increase to 20.000 bicycles, depending on the demand of the Ile-de-France residents.

A fleet of 500 cargo bikes is also being considered for families.
