Immobilizers "Sobr" include all the basic (classic) and a number of additional security features, including protection against car theft and prevention of the seizure of the vehicle along with the driver.
The standard car alarm provides the owner of the vehicle with 80-90% protection. Since the system does not have a well-defined algorithm for recognizing a digital signal according to the "friend or foe" parameter, there is a risk of hijacking. As expert tests have shown, cyber-hackers need from 5 to 40 minutes to turn off car alarms.
The Sobr immobilizer expands the functions of a two-way security system: it prevents the car from moving if there is no “owner” identification mark in the coverage area.
SOBR Features
The immobilizer "Sobr" blocks the movement of the car if there is no miniature transmitter-receiver (electronic transponder) within the range of the alarm.
The device searches for a tag via a secure radio channel after starting the engine in two protection modes against:
- theft (after activation of the motor);
- capture (after opening the car door).
Recognition is made by a dialogue code according to a unique encryption algorithm. By 2020, the label search algorithm remains hackable.
Sobr immobilizer:
- reads motion sensor signals;
- has both wired and wireless blocking circuits;
- notifies the owner of an unauthorized start of the engine;
- recognizes the option "automatic engine warm-up" according to the planned schedule.

Service functions
The main feature of the Sobr Stigma 02 immobilizer in modifications is complete protection against theft after the loss (or theft) of the ignition key, provided that the key fob with the label is stored separately.
The security system is controlled by a dialog tag, which the owner must carry with him.
Automatic locking / unlocking of doors
The service function of opening and closing the doors involves locking the car locks 4 seconds after the ignition is turned on. This prevents rear passengers, in particular small children, from opening the car while driving.
The locks are unlocked 1 second after the ignition is switched off. If you start the engine with the doors open, the service setting for locking the doors is canceled.
The Sobr Stigma immobilizer in all modifications implements a service mode, in which only the driver's door opens with the security option active. To perform the option, it is necessary to connect the immobilizer to the car's electrical circuits according to a separate scheme.
If you want to open other doors in this mode, you need to press the disarm button again.
Remote trunk release
The service option is configured through one of three additional channels. The trunk is unlocked by pressing the remote opening button. In this case, the immobilizer security sensors are automatically turned off:
- stroke;
- additional.
But all door locks remain closed. If you slam the trunk, the security sensors are activated again after 10 seconds.
Valet Mode
In the "Jack" mode, all service and security options are disabled. The door lock control function via button "1" remains active. To start the Valet mode, you must first press the button "1" with a delay of 2 second, then the button "1". Activation is confirmed by the lit immobilizer indicator and one beep.
Activation of the "Jack" mode
To disable the mode, you need to simultaneously press the buttons "1" and "2". The system beeps twice, the indicator goes out.
Remote engine start
The Sobr Stigma immobilizer in modifications allows you to activate such a service option as remote engine start. Using this function, you can maintain the optimal temperature of the power unit during overnight stays in the open air in severe frosts, which is important for diesel internal combustion engines and internal combustion engines with a water cooling system.
You can implement the option through:
- internal timer;
- key fob command;
- sensor of the additional device for monitoring the temperature of the motor sobr 100-tst;
- external command.
The recommended way to configure the activation of the internal combustion engine is through the sobr 100-tst add-on block. The system consists of a power relay and a speed control circuit. When activated, the speed is automatically controlled and the internal combustion engine stops when the specified speed parameter is exceeded several times.

Switching on and off the protection mode
The standard security mode is activated by pressing the "1" button. The activation of the alarm is signaled by one short beep, the activation of the indicator, which is continuously lit for 5 seconds, then starts to slowly go out.
If any door is not tightly closed, the module gives three short beeps, which are accompanied by blinking of the indicator LED.
Disabling the security mode occurs by briefly pressing the button "1". The system gives a signal and removes protection. The immobilizer is programmed to separate commands for activating and disabling the security mode. Switching on occurs in the same way, switching off - through the button "2". When disarmed, the key fob emits two short beeps, the locks open.
Bypass faulty security zones
The alarm can be set to armed mode in case of some problems: for example, the lock of one passenger door does not work, the motion sensor is not configured or broken.
If the immobilizer is set to the “door security connection after a time” mode, and the car is equipped with interior lighting in the interior light turn-off delay mode or “polite backlight”, bypassing faulty zones is not activated. After the alarm is triggered, the immobilizer will give an alarm after 45 seconds.
Trip Cause Memory
Another handy feature that determines the cause of the immobilizer triggering. All of them are encoded in the backlight of the indicator. The driver needs to estimate how many times the light flashed:
- 1 - unauthorized opening of doors;
- 2 - hood;
- 3 - impact on the body;
- 4 ― an additional motion sensor has been triggered.

Guard with engine running
Detailed instructions for the Sobr immobilizer allow you to independently configure the system to protect the car when the engine is running. In this mode, the shock sensor and the engine blocker are disabled.
To activate the function, you need to press and hold the "1" button for 2 seconds. The buzzer notifies of the inclusion of a short signal with a flashing once.
Panic mode
The option will work if the owner's PIN is entered incorrectly five times within an hour. To activate the function, you need to press the button "4" and hold it for 2 seconds.
Disabling "Panic" occurs by pressing any button on the key fob for 2 seconds.
Locking doors in alarm mode
The "Alarm" function allows you to lock the doors again after unauthorized opening. The option helps to additionally protect the transport if the attackers managed to open the doors in any way.
Disabling the alarm using a personal code
A personal code (PIN code) is the owner's personal password, with which you can disable the immobilizer completely, deactivate some options without a key fob, and start the engine after blocking. The PIN prevents reprogramming of the dialogue code algorithm between the Sobr immobilizer tag and the system itself.
Installation manual
The scheme for connecting the immobilizer "Sobr" is carried out to the electrical circuit of the car. First you need to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. If the car has units that need constant power, and the battery cannot be disconnected in order to assemble the immobilizer, it is recommended:
- close windows;
- turn off the interior lighting;
- turn off the audio system;
- move the immobilizer fuse to the "Off" position or take it out.

For each Sobr model, a detailed wiring diagram is provided for connecting to the car's electrical circuit, with or without activation of the door limit switches.
Installing system components
The head unit of the immobilizer is mounted in a hard-to-reach place, more often behind the dashboard, fasteners are carried out on ties or clamps. It is not recommended to install the unit in the engine compartment; a signal siren is placed under the hood. Before installation, the shock sensor is adjusted.
The LED indicator is mounted on the dashboard. You need to choose a place that is clearly visible both from the driver's and rear seats, and through the side glass from the street. It is recommended to hide the immobilizer service switch from prying eyes.
Assignment of inputs / outputs
The complete immobilizer wiring diagram includes all options for alarm settings. The colors of the wires allow you not to make a mistake during self-assembly. If difficulties arise, it is recommended to contact auto electricians or alarm adjusters at a service center.
The Sobr models have five connectors:
- seven-pin high-current;
- low current for seven contacts;
- socket for LED;
- four-pin;
- response to two contacts.
A cable of a certain color is connected to each, which is responsible for a specific immobilizer option. For self-assembly, they are compared with the color scheme that is attached to the instructions.
Sobr pros and cons
The main advantage of SOBR immobilizers is a unique algorithm for transmitting a dialogue code at a frequency of 24 Hz, which cannot be hacked today. Additional alarms for locking the doors provide double protection against theft.
The only drawback of SOBR alarms is the high cost. But if it is necessary to provide a car with reliable protection not for a day, but for the entire period of operation, the Sobr models remain the most reliable and productive on the market. The effectiveness of immobilizers of this brand is confirmed by positive reviews. In addition, the high price excludes the appearance of fakes: for 2020, the control and supervision services have not identified a single counterfeit system.
