Infiniti Q50 S Hybrid - not tired, and he has already undergone a facelift

Although Infiniti is still a niche brand in Poland, along with the growing number of car dealerships, the number of customers is also growing. What can they choose? For example, the Q50 S Hybrid.

Infiniti Q50 gaining popularity in Poland, but still not as common as the Series 3 or even the Lexus IS. However, for many people, this can be an advantage - because it allows them to drive a rather rare car.

And this rare car has already received a facelift. It seems that little has changed, but how is it when you get to know each other better? Let's see.

Sub body facelift

W Infiniti Q50 The shape of the air intake grille in the front of the car has changed slightly. The bad looks we love for the Q50 are still in place, but here we have newer LED headlights, both front and rear. From the front, the car looks very dynamic, and yet not everyone will like the massive taillights.

In addition, the facelift adds a new color to the offer: coffee and almond Mocha Almond. These are indeed subtle changes, but the Q50 hasn't gotten tired of it yet. So we can assume that this is more than enough.

Nice interior, average system

The interior of the Q50 is quite pleasant. There are a lot of smooth lines, and the materials are also up to par for this class. It's also kind of a breath of fresh air compared to all the popular competitors.

The most characteristic element of the interior, perhaps, is the multimedia system, which is divided into two touch screens. It just complicates the operation a little, because we have to figure out what we are operating at the bottom and what is at the top. You can not complain about the screen resolution, but the interface itself smacks of a mouse. And that hasn't changed with the facelift.

Journey Q50 however, it is really beautiful, especially thanks to the armchairs that fit well into the silhouette. However, it already happened. So something has changed inside?

Yes, but technically, because a new generation of adaptive direct steering has been introduced. This is an electronic control system, so the front wheels turn based on data sent to the computer. There is a clutch in the steering column, ready to connect the steering wheel to the wheels, but only in case of failure. Otherwise, 100% rotation is electronically controlled for greater accuracy.

Sporty and economical?

Even with DAS Q50 it doesn't look like a computer game at all. The steering, contrary to appearances, is precise and direct, and in the new generation it allows for more precise control of the gear ratio and reaction speed. This solution primarily increases comfort, since hitting the track is not transferred to the steering wheel. We also do not feel vibrations, but if we resist slipping, then this is not difficult. You can even say that the steering wheel "helps" to take the correct position.

Tested Infiniti Q50 under the hood it has a 3.5-liter V6 powered by an electric motor. The system achieves 364 hp, resulting in acceleration to 100 km/h in just 5,1 seconds. It's a rather unusual move for the only hybrid on offer to be one of the most powerful engines out there, but you can understand that.

The engine already has so much power that it may want to "drink" quite a lot. And yes, the manufacturer claims consumption of 6,2 l/100 km in the combined cycle, 8,2 l/100 km in the urban cycle and 5,1 l/100 km in the extra-urban cycle. These are decent results and although difficult to replicate in real conditions, the consumption of 10-11 l / 100 km in the city - with this engine - is a very good result.

The driving experience is quite sporty. The drive is directed to the rear axle, thanks to which Q50 he is very agile. Sometimes even viciously, but only if you turn off the traction control and start going crazy.

By the way, the traction control system in conjunction with the DAS system works in a rather specific way, because the opposing force adapts to our driving style. If we want to "ride", but we turn the steering wheel randomly, he will react so that we do not get hurt. However, if we smoothly take the counter, we are unlikely to feel interference.

It is also worth adding a few words about the "ecological pedal". In economy mode, we feel a clear resistance to a strong addition of gas, which indicates that we are moving out of the zone of low fuel consumption. It even works well, preventing us from letting our imagination run wild when the gas station is too far away.

How much does an Infiniti Q50 S cost?

On the Polish market model Q50 It is offered in four trim levels - Q50, Q50 Premium, Q50 Sport and Q50 Sport Tech.

The test unit is the Q50 Sport Tech, with a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and paddle shifters, front seat belts with pre-collision system and a sunroof.

How much do you have to pay for this? Prices Infiniti Q50 Hybrid from PLN 218. Sport Tech already costs PLN 000.

He comes out of the shadows

Competing in a segment where German brands have been leading for years is not easy. But if Lexus did it, then Infiniti will do it. You can already see that with the growth of showrooms, there are more and more customers. Previously, there was simply no support service and points of sale that would be closer to customers.

Infiniti vehicles have everything that could allow such competition, and the Q50 is the best example of this. Looks good, rides well, well made and comfortable. Above all, however, it differs from other vehicles in the segment. And this, together with the powerful hybrid drive, is its biggest advantage.
