INVECS-III

The third version of the INVECS-II automatic transmission has been further developed and now offers a continuously variable transmission in fully automatic mode or a six-speed manual transmission without clutch if the driver wishes to control the shift points. Another innovation from Mitsubishi is the introduction of a “steering column switch,” which allows the driver to manually shift gears with their hands on the steering wheel.

INVECS-III was introduced in 2000 on the eighth generation Mitsubishi Lancer. The steering column option was first seen on the second-generation Mitsubishi Outlander, which debuted in 2005.
