IREQ introduces a revolutionary new battery

The future of electric and hybrid cars does not depend on engines, accessories, or even the price of gasoline (although if the oil price resumes its rise, motorists will undoubtedly find electric cars much more expensive. Interesting), but technology designed for batteries... Indeed, at the moment, the batteries provide autonomy and recharge times that are within reasonable limits. The average battery life is between 100 and 200 km, and the full charge time is about 3 hours (at a fast charging station). Even if this charging time is short, 3 hours to fully recharge the battery is still too much compared to gasoline cars, where you can refuel and continue your journey in a few minutes. Electric vehicles are at a very disadvantage in this regard, but this should not last long as a researcher working onIREQ (Quebec Electricity Research Institute) just developed revolutionary battery.

Karim Zagib, a scientific genius has developed this new battery that has been announced to successfully charge and discharge a 2 kW lithium-ion battery 20 times in six minutes. Please note that here we are talking about 000% loading. By extrapolating a little and taking into account several other factors, researcher Karim Zagib predicts: half an hour to fully charge the battery 30 kW (Tesla has a 53 kWh battery). Although all this remains in the field of theory, especially Karim Zagib has not yet published his findings in a scientific journal and plans to do so in January.

This new technology introduces titanium into the battery, which allows it to charge very quickly and allows it to work even at the most extreme temperatures (from -40 to +80 degrees, no abnormalities were found in the work).

This new discovery could be an important step in the future development of electric vehicles, but the commercial application of this new battery has not yet been explored, and on the Canadian side, some want to keep the discovery and charge exclusive. to use it, the leader of the Quebec Green Party even states: “ This new lithium-ion battery must remain in the hands of the people of Quebec and benefit everyone. It would be a white-collar crime to part with him or leave marketing and profits to others. »

In short, this discovery is very interesting, but it remains to be seen when this type of new battery will be powered by electric vehicles. And it’s not now.
