Drift Masters GP Historic Weekend

Drift Masters GP Historic Weekend Behind the 7th and 8th stages of the Drift Masters Grand Prix. The event took place at Bikernieki hippodrome in the capital of Latvia. The competition was attended by participants who constantly participate in the DMGP, and representatives of the Latvian drift scene. The international competition lasted three days.

It all started on Friday - then the drivers started training. There were also famous and popular players such as Piotr Venchek, David Karkosik or Pawel Borkowski. Also on site was James Dean, who made his first DMGP appearance in his own Nissan S14, which was for the Budmat Auto Drift team.

Saturday's qualification was won by the popular Janek. Pawel Borkowski was second and Piotr Venchek was third. With each race, the participants felt the track better, which resulted in spectacular fights. James Dean is the winner of the qualification, on his way he met in succession - Ingus Jakebsons, David Karkosik and Ivo Cirulis. In the final, he stood next to Pavel Borkovsky, who had a good day. After fierce fights, the victory went to the Pole. Third place at the 7th stage of the Drift Masters Grand Prix was taken by Petr Venchek. On the way to this position, the Plock resident defeated Marcin Moszpinek, Grzegorz Hyupka and Ivo Cirulis.

On Sunday, the riders felt the track even better than the day before, and their ride was a real manifestation of the highest skill. On this day, the Irishman James Dean again won the qualification. The second was Petr Venchek, and the third was Pavel Borkovsky.

The top 16 were dictated by the representatives of the Budmat Auto Drift Team. From the first fights, they set the tone for the entire competition. Pawel Borkowski was also able to effectively climb the cup ladder. There were two overtimes in the top four! First, the judges appointed an additional match between David Karkosik and James Dean. They then announced that Piotr Wencek and Pavel Borkovsky would have to fight one more fight.

In the bonus duel, Dean vs. Karkosik, an Irish athlete, made a mistake by hitting a Polish car. The suspension in Landrin was damaged, but the mechanics from the Budmat Auto Drift Team quickly dealt with the breakdown - thanks to which David was able to reach the final. An accident ended and extra time Venchek - Borkowski. A participant from Tsekhanov hit the concrete strips with great force and seriously damaged his car. Fortunately, nothing happened to the driver, but his car was not suitable for the competition for third place.

To the enthusiastic exclamations of the public, Petr Venchek and David Karkosik went to the start. The final clash of these two participants ended with the victory of the driver of the yellow drift car. After this duel, it's time for decorations. For the first time in history, Budmat Auto Drift Team pilots stood on all steps of the podium.

These were also the first events in the history of the Drift Masters GP league organized outside of Poland. The next competition will take place on September 24-25 at AmberExpo in Gdansk.
