Italy: e-bike sales up by 11% in '2018

Following the dynamics seen in other European markets, the sales of electric bicycles in the Italian market increased again.

According to ANCMA, the Italian national association for the cycling sector, there were 173.000 electric bicycles sold on the Italian market in 2018, up 16,8% from 2017. Of the roughly 1.595.000 bicycles sold in Italy last year, electricity now accounts for almost 11% of sales.

A sharp rise in domestic production

In addition to sales, the production of electric bicycles in Italy has skyrocketed last year. 102.000 290 units produced and the market jumped XNUMX%! An exciting growth that ANCMA attributes to the introduction of new anti-dumping duties on Chinese-made e-bikes.

An increase in production, which naturally contributes to the growth of export statistics. Last year, the export of e-bikes to Italy amounted to 42 million euros, which is 300% more than in 2017.
