What parts does an annular magnetic disk consist of?
Content
Magnetic poles | ||
The magnetic poles of an annular magnetic disk can be magnetized in two ways; axially and diametrically. An axially magnetized annular magnetic disk is magnetized along the entire length of the magnet, while a diametrically magnetized annular magnetic disk is magnetized along its diameter.
Hole | ||
The hole in the annular magnetic disk is created during manufacture and has the same diameter throughout the entire depth of the magnet. This is different from the hole in a hidden magnetic disk, which tapers from one magnetic surface to another in a cone shape.
The hole in the ring magnetic disk is used to attach the magnetic disk to a large number of items such as fishing line.
The ring magnetic disc is not technically used for fishing, however it is used to fish ferromagnetic items such as a bicycle or coins from a river.
Keeper | ||
The steel retainer on the annular magnetic disc must be removed prior to use so that the magnet can work to its full potential. The keeper is a piece of soft iron temporarily added between two ring magnetic disks when several magnetic disks are stored together to prevent them from degaussing. |
