The pin chuck head is removable and can be screwed and unscrewed so that the corresponding collet can be inserted.
A small drill bit is then inserted into the hole in the collet and the head of the chuck is screwed tight to lock it in place.The end of the pin chuck is inserted into the drill chuck.

Collet jaws are the parts that close around the drill (or other device) that you insert into the pin chuck.
Collets for pin chucks and vices can have 3 or 4 jaws and vary in size. 4-jaw collets generally have a better grip than 3-jaw collets, however this may vary depending on the tool and material you are working with.
