What are the parts of a cable guide?

Ratchet drive cable puller
	The ratchet drive consists of two sprockets connected to a cable drum. The drive pawls engage with the sprockets to help turn the ratchet and pull the desired load.
Lead pawl of cable puller
	The lead pawl is connected to and controlled by the lead pawl spring. The spring will engage or disengage the ratchet pawl. The two pawls will snap into the sprocket grooves to engage or release if they are disengaged.
	Lead dog spring The lead pawl spring can be in the up or down position. Pressing the spring up will disengage the main ratchet, and when the spring is down, the ratchet will engage.
Cable puller pawl spring
	The detent pawl spring acts as a detent on the sprocket cam. Attached to the pawl trigger, when compressed, the spring turns to release the lock pawl, allowing the cable to move freely.
Trigger of the locking pawl on the cable guide
	The lock pawl trigger is attached to the lock pawl spring. When compressed upwards, the cable will be free to pass when attaching the load hook to the anchor point.
Anchor hook on cable laying machine
	The anchor hook will be connected to the anchor point where tension will take place.
Load hook on cable laying machine
	The load hook will be attached to the object(s) that will be pulled.
	Additional load hook An optional weight hook can be found on some, but not all cable handlers. This adds extra strength when stretched or tightened. In situations such as moving logs, two load hooks can be connected to form a loop around the logs.
Rope puller lever handle
	The lever handle is attached to the main ratchet drive. As the handle moves back and forth, it will pull the desired load.
Traction rope cable
	The cable is located in the center of the puller around the drum. It connects to the load hook, then to the ratchet drive.
	Cable protection The guards protect the cable from slipping when loose and are located on either side of the tensioner to provide a barrier when the cable is wound up. The cable can move side to side when it is loose, so the guards keep the wire centered on the tool and on the cable drum.
Suspension pulley on cable guide
	The pulley allows the cable to run from the drum directly to the load hook. The pulley reduces friction as the cable pulls on the object.
