We represent technical directions, but none of those described so far has such a relation to the vision as architecture. And we do not mean a vision in the style of what the fortuneteller Maciej suggested (on TV), but a vision of creating a new (also outdated), beautiful (for your taste), extraordinary (sometimes banal), functional. (not always) designs. We invite you to study as a technician with a vision - architecture.

Architecture is a field of study that requires a wide range of skills from the student. Relying only on your unique scientific skills is not enough, as you will be relying on design that requires intuition, taste, dexterity, and a rich imagination. On the other hand, non-trivial, delightful architectural solutions will be useless if the student does not master the basic content, such as mathematics, physics, descriptive geometry and structural mechanics. Architecture is a direction about. interdisciplinary natureTherefore, during your studies, you should also expect legal sciences, economics, architectural history, fine arts and workshop technology. In addition, construction, design, construction and building installations will be added. And if you want to really count on success in your profession, you still need to have a number of soft skills that, although no one will test at the university, will become necessary for working with clients, contractors and colleagues.

However, the first real challenge should be the decision to start architectural research. You must answer the question whether you really have a good base for acquiring this kind of knowledge and skills. If yes, then great - you need to submit documents to the selected university as soon as possible.

college

Deciding to choose a course, it's time to go university choice. Architecture is a popular trend. For example, when recruiting for the 2018/2019 academic year, the Krakow Polytechnic University noted 3,1 seat candidate. Its popularity can be observed by analyzing not only demand, but also supply. Candidates will have no problem finding a university that offers this. You can choose something for yourself almost throughout Poland. The problem arises only when someone cares about a particularly high level of education, prestige or a particular place (after all, why not study, for example, at sea).

In this case, they come to the rescue. ratings. So, the first eight places in the well-known prospect.pl ranking are occupied by polytechnic universities - from Warsaw to Krakow, Wroclaw, Silesia, Poznań, Gdansk, Lodz and Lublin. The ninth and tenth positions were taken by the universities of Zielona Góra and Szczecin. The rating of architectural faculties was also prepared by the monthly "Builder". The three leading positions were taken by the following polytechnic universities: Silesian, Wroclaw and Warsaw. It is noteworthy that among the few awarded schools there is one private university - the Warsaw School of Ecology and Management, which is timidly trying to break the overwhelming dominance of state technical universities.

Based on the presented data, we can safely state that in the large cities of Poland, the teaching of architecture is at a fairly high level.

Recruitment

Having already chosen the direction of study and the university, it's time college entrance. While in Krakow, as we mentioned, you should be facing two candidates, there are also schools that don't set such high standards. In fact, the student is expected only ... regular - and most importantly, timely - transfers as tuition fees. So you can painlessly start your adventure with architecture…

However, when choosing a public university, you should be prepared for hard choice. An example is the Warsaw University of Technology, which accepts applicants who meet the following requirements: obtaining at least 30% of the scores on two tests of ability and architectural aptitude and the maximum possible score on the exam in mathematics and a foreign language. It is desirable to take mathematics in the extended version, because the points from the basic version are divided by two, which effectively reduces the chances of an applicant for an index.

To study

Upon graduation, each student expects to get a job in the profession. In the current economic situation, the labor market is so favorable that almost everyone is waiting for a job. The only question is: for how much? When watching films, one gets the impression that architects are a professional group that drives luxury cars and lives in even more luxurious apartments, in prestigious places. This is a beautiful vision and certainly real, but unfortunately it does not apply to most architects in Poland. They earn an average of approx. PLN 4 thousand net. Of course, this is not the amount that allows you to live in luxury. However, the good news for graduates is that after graduation, you too can look forward to a job. PLN 3 thousand net.

When one job is not enough, architects try to take on additional commissions and develop new skills. A good solution is to develop knowledge in this area. programming and IT. It is possible to combine all acquired competencies, which effectively increases competitiveness in the labor market - and, of course, earnings.

Architecture combines art and technical thought, which makes it an extremely interesting, but at the same time inaccessible field of science. Technique requires mastering a wide range of knowledge, and art, in turn, knows no boundaries. The architect is also required to combine many seemingly unrelated skills.
