The Jaguar I-Pace will charge over 100 kW of power following a software update.

A somewhat unexpected statement about the Jaguar I-Pace from ... a charging station operator. Fastned has announced that the electric Jaguar will soon receive a software update that will allow it to charge at 100kW.

The Jaguar I-Pace currently achieves a charging power of 50kW on a 50kW charging station and a peak power of around 80-85kW on a device that can handle more than 50kW - here's a 175kW charger. Meanwhile, charging point network operator Fastned has already tested an electric Jaguar with the software update loaded.

A car with newer software breaks through 100 kW and reaches about 104 kW including charger losses, i.e. up to 100-102 kW at battery level (source). This power is consumed by 10 to 35 percent of the battery's capacity. Later, the speed drops, and from 50 percent of the charge, the difference between the old and new firmware version becomes small.

The Jaguar I-Pace will charge over 100 kW of power following a software update.

Note, however, that the Jaguar I-Pace is not a Tesla. The manufacturer cannot download software updates remotely. The respective package should be available “shortly” at the brand's authorized workshops and will require a service worker with a computer to download it.

At the moment (March 2019) in Poland there is not a single charging station with a capacity of more than 50 kW that could be used by the Jaguar I-Pace. On the other hand, more than 100 kW have been operated by Tesla Supercharger stations for many years.
