Jaguar XJR 575 CV British super sedan test – Sports Cars

The air intakes on the bonnet and red calipers do not hide the sporty soul of this sedan. However, despite the muscle, the serration retains its inherent elegance, and I love that.

в The Jaguar XJR is a riot of fine materials: no heather or flashy, just lots of black leather and sporty touches that make the interior look youthful and modern.

But a smile prints on my face when I hit the start button and the V8 5.0 wakes up with a hoarse low tone, almost coughing. 575 h.p. and 700 Nm of torque they are excellent artillery, fortunately there are few traffic jams and they offer the combination of stiffness and speed required for a nearly two-ton rocket.

The good news is that the Jaguar XJR is a car that gives you confidence and you only need a few hundred meters to feel comfortable. I ride the long wheelbase version, which means it's more stable and easier to handle, but also clumsier in the straits.

As soon as the road opens in front of me, I close the accelerator and in an instant find myself canceling the straight lines. The engine runs across the entire rev range with a force of around 3.000 rpm, which is really impressive. This is a civilian V8 from a sonic point of view.: growls and sounds right, but doesn't explode or explode like the AMG, just to name one.

Even the setting is not racing, on the contrary, even in the sportiest mode, the car sways and moves. This behavior makes the car more confident, but if you are looking for racing emotion, you may find it imprecise. This is a sedan that It works best when moving at a medium pace, where you can enjoy wonderful traction and sound, perhaps watching the landscape.

The steering is also not as precise as I expected - the first quarter is a bit empty - but still communicative enough to tell you what's going on. However, an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission: fast and precise even at the limit of possibilities.
