Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is now on the road

If there is a manufacturer with undeniable off-road competence, then he is a Jeep anyway.

With the new version of the Trailhawk, Jeep is launching a special off-road version of the Grand Cherokee. We were the first to get into the revised model for 2017.

If there is a manufacturer with undeniable off-road expertise, it is Jeep anyway. Jeeps have been rolling off the company's assembly line for 76 years. And with the release of the Jeep Grand Cherokee since 1993, the traditional brand has included real jewelry in its program when it comes to combining luxury performance, everyday use and true SUV, long before Europeans embraced the trend.

The fourth generation of the current Grand Cherokee has been in service since 2010, but in the fall it will really have to retire and make way for the new generation of 2018. Of course, the leadership of the flagship is extended only for organizational reasons, because the successor must be based on the future Über-Jeep Wagoneer. And he needs a little more than originally planned. In any case, the brand, which has proved itself with record sales, has even more to do in the new year - the presentation of the Jeep Compass model, the change of leadership of the legendary Jeep Wrangler, which is important.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Model 2017

Restart Sam, it means a new facelift for the Jeep Grand Cherokee after a full 2014 model year facelift. The facelift is taken literally because dealers now have three options with different predecessors. Ground service station with a capacity of 468 hp clear, but also the recently revised top version of the Summit has an interpretation of the grille and front bumper. And a new addition enters the scene, also with its own look: Trailhawk.

Jeep started with additional designations, first with the Cherokee and then with the Renegade, to denote the corresponding modified versions, which are slightly larger on the ground than others. Compass will also be available in a Trailhawk version. Trailhawk versions are usually fitted with moderate suspension, modified aprons and off-road tires.

The suspension theme of the new Grand Cherokee simply ended because it got a height-adjustable Quadra-Lift air suspension. For Trailhawk it had to be changed, in what form and to what extent the technicians are not reporting. It should stabilize a little and climb a little higher. But after the impressions of the first test drive, at best it will probably be shortened by a few millimeters.

Height-adjustable suspension

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is shod with off-road tires compared to the sporty options (Goodyear Wrangler 265/60 R 18). In everyday driving, it definitely has many advantages and provides a comfortable ride because the taller tires absorb most of the bumps, while the lower cross-section of the more luxurious lines reacts significantly sharper.

Mountain lovers will love the standard trim and, above all, the sill tube options. With this protection, even collisions with strong roots or large rock debris in the Paroli path will not break the expensive bodywork.

The air suspension of the highest off-road model has no difference with the standard ones. In any gait, the rigidity of the ride remains the same, which requires an appropriate careful and slow ride. In any case, the clearance is at least 27 cm, and we are talking about this.

Threshold protection and off-road assistant

If the incline is particularly steep, up or down, the Trailhawk driver can be more trusted when choosing an electronic assistant gear. The selection of a suitable pace when driving up and down is carried out using a lever on the steering wheel. The interior design innovations will apply to all 2017 models and will apply to all Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models: enhanced temperature control capabilities and additional functions (including parking sensors, Start-Stop system). In addition, the stylish, but not maintenance-free gear lever has been replaced with a regular copy. Here's the result: flawless, blind service without the risk of inadvertently reversing or idling as it sometimes did with its predecessor.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk features suede and leather upholstered seats with red decorative stitching, the same red stitching on the steering wheel, sidewall and center console upholstery, and the mandatory Trailhawk and Trail logo and body plates. on the steering wheel. The self-contained front apron has an improved tilt angle. A small eye catching visual trick: the middle stripe of the front cover is painted with a contrasting matte black varnish, it will serve as protection, according to the press release. Roof lights are not fitted.

The new annual Jeep Grand Cherokee along with the new Trailhawk will hit German showrooms in January. As for the prices, Fiat-Chrysler still maintains them, they have not been updated even in the updated generation. The layout of the model range should serve as a guideline, as in terms of equipment this is a limited standard off-road package and the proposed air suspension.

Hack and predictor Aviator

Despite an unexpected contract extension, the Jeep Grand Cherokee remains in the lead and ready to compete. The new Trailhawk variant enters the scene as completely public, like other models with interesting features and above-average terrain capabilities. A real step forward is the new operating principle of the automatic transmission.
