By 2022, energy prices in Enea could rise by 40 percent. What about the cost-effectiveness of charging an electrician at home? [counting] • CARS

Pavel Szczek, president of Enea SA, said at a press conference that he is interested in raising energy prices by around 2022 percent in 40. Since electricity accounts for about half of the bill and the other half is distribution costs, our bills increase by about 1/5 (+20 percent).

    • Realistic option: +25 percent
    • Optimistic option: + 10 percent

The statement of the President of Enea, quoted by the portal Next.Gazeta.pl, is a preliminary statement. This shows that the company will apply with such numbers to the Energy Regulatory Authority (source). Whether the Energy Regulatory Authority will agree with them is a separate question, because, on the one hand, it will be under pressure from politicians (increasing the cost of living affects the lower ratings of the ruling party), and on the other hand, it must be kept in mind, that our domestic energy producers will face ever higher costs associated with carbon emissions.

Keeping energy prices at current levels, i.e. no agreement to increase, will mean that higher emissions costs will be passed on to miners (complete reduction of expensive Polish coal, search for the cheapest sources of raw materials) or to entrepreneurs - because ERO only protects individuals. In the first case, crowds of tire smokers may appear in front of the Seimas (politicians are very afraid of them), the second way will cause a sharp increase in prices in almost all sectors.

Electrician's current operating costs

We decided to check how designed higher energy costs will lead to electric vehicle operating costs. Today, the average electricity price in Poland under the G11 tariff is approximately PLN 72 per 1 kWh. Thus, an average electric car (18,7 kWh / 100 km, taking into account losses and seasons), driving 1 km per month, consumes electricity in the amount of PLN 500, PLN 202 / 13,5 km.

At the end of the day, it is important to remember that owners of electricians who charge their homes quickly come to the conclusion that they would be better off switching to the G12 or (Tauron) G13 tariff, which costs about PLN 0,42 / kWh. In such situation The monthly costs for the work of an electrician are PLN 117,8, PLN 7,9 / 100 km..

Pessimistic option: + 40 percent

Assuming that your bills increase by 40 percent (i.e. energy prices AND distribution increase by 40 percent), the above amounts would be:

  • PLN 1 / kWh, PLN 282,7 / month, PLN 18,8 / 100 km in tariff G11,
  • PLN 0,59 / kWh, PLN 164,9 / month, PLN 11 per 100 km in tariff G12.

Realistic option: +25 percent

If we assume that ERO will meet some of the requirements of energy producers, then the companies partially counterbalance the incomplete increase in distribution area, and electricity prices in 2022 will increase by 25 percent compared to 2021, the costs of operating an electrician will be as follows:

  • PLN 90 / kWh, PLN 252,4 / month, PLN 16,8 / 100 km in tariff G11,
  • 52,5 grosz / kWh, 147,3 zł / month, PLN 9,8 per 100 km in tariff G12.

Optimistic option: + 10 percent

Finally, we can assume an optimistic scenario in which the Energy Regulatory Authority will not allow energy producers to sharply increase energy prices and require them to have another way to balance their losses. In this situation, the cost of driving an electric car charged at home would be:

  • PLN 79 / kWh, PLN 222,2 / month, PLN 14,8 / 100 km in tariff G11,
  • PLN 46 / kWh, PLN 129,6 / month, PLN 8,6 / 100 km in tariff G12.

Predictions and Comparison with Combustion Cars and Hydrogen

We hope that ERO will choose between optimistic and realistic options. We wouldn't want energy prices in our homes to be too high, but we understand that the rise in the cost of emission permits will mean that producers will have to find money somewhere to fill the growing hole.

For comparison: the car runs on liquefied petroleum gas smoker 9 liters of gas per 100 kilometers currently costs its owner PLN 24,3 / 100 km. Vehicle included diesel consumption 6,5 l / 100 km - price in the order 34,5 zł / 100 kmand if we were driving to hydrogenwe would pay approximately 40,5 zł / 100 km including Polish VAT.

It is also worth remembering that Electric vehicles are now subsidized, they can be bought for PLN 18 or PLN 750 cheaper (surcharge under the My Electrician program), and this in many places they can be charged for free or for a penny, in Warsaw, these are P + R car parks and separate charging stations.

Editorial note www.elektrowoz.pl: prices for LPG, diesel fuel and hydrogen, the latter from Germany, are indicated, taking into account the consumption of 0,9 kg / 100 km. Who can guess which car the charging port image was taken from in the content? ??
