Another highlight of the current season of exhibitions of weapons, military equipment and law enforcement agencies was the KADEX-2018 fair, organized for the fifth time from May 23 to 26 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The main organizer of the project for the first time was the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, established in October 2016, i.e. after the fourth batch of KADEX. This time, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, as well as Kazakhstan Engineering (Kazakhstan Engineering) and RSE "Kazspetsexport" company of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry acted as a co-organizer. Traditionally, the exhibition was held at the Astana International Airport and was held by the Astana-Expo KS company.

2018 exhibitors from 355 countries of the world took part in the International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment KADEX-33. The first two days of the exhibition were available only to specialists, invited guests and pre-accredited media representatives. An accompanying event was the international forum "Days of the Universe in Kazakhstan", a rich program of which included plenary and thematic sessions, conferences and a round table. This gave its participants the opportunity to present their proposals and discuss topical issues related to defense and security, space development and cybersecurity.

On the third and fourth days, admission to the exhibition was free, without age restrictions, visitors were only required to register at the entrance and pass a security check. According to organizers, 70 visitors visited this year's KADEX exhibition, although such statistics were mainly influenced by the presence of those who were not very interested in the topic and the accumulation of children and teenagers over the past two days. days.

New and upgraded equipment

In recent years, Kazakhstan has been investing significant resources in systematically improving the security level and increasing the combat capabilities of its armed forces. The goal of decision makers is to balance defense spending so that it does not negatively impact other parts of the budget. They also want, crucially, to acquire advanced technologies for the country and increase their own production capacity. Numerous exhibits of the ADEX-2018 exhibition have become only a confirmation of the viability of this approach.

For obvious reasons, this did not apply to combat aircraft and helicopters. This category of equipment was represented by one of the Su-30SM multipurpose combat aircraft, which premiered at the exhibition two years ago (see WiT 7/2016). In total, Kazakhstan ordered 31 such vehicles from Russia under four contracts, eight of which were delivered before the end of 2017. A novelty was the Mi-35M combat helicopter, one of four delivered last year out of 12 ordered. The car with tail number "03" was shown at a static exhibition, and the copy "02" participated in a flight demonstration. On the airfield, one could also see the Airbus C295M light transport aircraft with the number "07" of the Air Force and Air Defense of Kazakhstan, the penultimate of eight purchased aircraft, the delivery of which was carried out at the end of November 2017. The European concern hopes that Kazakhstan will not stop its purchases from Casach at this point, hence the decision to arrive at KADEX-2018 also with the A400M in the colors of the Turkish Air Force (“051”).

A novelty, closely associated with the type of aviation of the armed forces, was also a ground radio communication station with aviation, which was presented by the Granit Design Bureau from Almaty. Its purpose is to ensure the transmission and reception of analog voice information, as well as digital data via air communication channels between ground control points and aircraft. The radio station operates in the range of 100-149,975 MHz for a distance of up to 300 km, 220-399,975 MHz for the same distance and 1,5-30 MHz for a distance of up to 500 km. It can be remotely controlled via wires at a distance of up to 5 km, and via a radio link it can create 24 communication channels. The new radio station of the Kazakh company is conceived as a successor to the old Soviet-made devices of a similar purpose: R-824, R-831, R-834, R-844, R-845, R-844M and R. -845M.

Among the new products on display there were many other products of the domestic military-industrial complex and international structures, which are currently at the testing stage and will soon have a chance to enter service with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan or make an export offer.

In service with the ground forces were presented, including: modernized main battle tanks of the T-72 family, a prototype wheeled armored personnel carrier "Barys" in three- and four-axle versions, towed by a 122-mm D-30. a howitzer equipped with the Nazgay automated fire control system, towed by the ZUK-23-2 anti-aircraft missile and artillery system or an anti-aircraft missile system based on the MT-LB tracked carrier with the Igla-1 short-range anti-aircraft system. guided missile launcher.
