How to quickly and effectively eliminate valve knock

The design of any modern engine is inconceivable without the use of hydraulic valve compensators, which make its operation not only more efficient, but also quieter. But sometimes the functions of these nodes are violated. What to do in such a situation, the AvtoVzglyad portal figured out.

For the precise operation of the motor and its gas distribution mechanism, it is extremely important to provide such a cycle of movement of each valve so that it opens and closes at the right time. Ideally, the clearance between the camshaft and the valve itself should be reduced to zero. Reducing the gap gives a number of winning points, including, for example, an increase in power, reduced fuel consumption, and reduced noise. These advantages are precisely provided by hydraulic lifters. These special timing units use the engine oil's hydraulic pressure generated in the lubrication system to close gaps between the valves and the camshaft. In modern engines, hydraulic compensators are far from always used; on the most advanced engines they are not. But on mass motors, they are usually present.

The principle of their operation is simple - each hydraulic compensator has a chamber inside, where oil enters under the pressure of the pump. It presses on the mini-piston, which minimizes the gap between the valve and the pusher. It would seem simple, but, as they say, there are nuances ... The problem is that the channels through which oil moves in hydraulic lifters are very thin. And if even the smallest particles of dirt get into them, then the movement of the oil flow inside the hydraulic compensator is disturbed, and it will turn out to be inoperative. As a result, there are gaps between the valves and pushers, which ultimately provokes increased wear of the parts of the entire valve group. And this already leads to a whole range of other problems: the appearance of a characteristic knock, a decrease in engine power, a deterioration in its environmental performance, and a sharp increase in fuel consumption.

To eliminate such a “knocking”, it is often necessary to do a partial disassembly of the motor and adjust the gaps, and this is fraught with high costs. However, there is another solution to the problem. This method, which allows to restore the hydraulic compensators without any disassembly of the engine, was introduced by the specialists of the German company Liqui Moly, who developed the Hydro Stossel Additiv additive. The idea proposed by them turned out to be not only simple in its implementation, but also very effective.

Its main meaning lies in the in-place express cleaning of the oil channels of hydraulic lifters. It is enough to remove dirt from the channels - and all functions are restored. This is exactly how the Hydro Stossel Additiv additive works, which must be added to the engine oil at the first knock of the hydraulic lifters. A special formulation allows the drug to gradually clean even the thinnest channels of the lubrication system, which normalizes the supply of engine oil to all significant timing units. Due to this, the hydraulic lifters begin to lubricate and function normally. The practice of using the product has shown that the effect manifests itself already after 300-500 km of run after filling the drug, and at the next oil change it is not required to “renew” the additive.

By the way, in modern car engines there are many other nodes with the same problems. These are, for example, hydraulic chain tensioners or, say, timing control systems, etc. It turned out that the Hydro Stossel Additiv additive is able to clean these mechanisms from contamination and restore their performance. And for this you just need to fill the engine with the product in a timely manner. Service practice shows that 300 ml of the additive is more than enough to process the lubrication system, in which the volume of oil used does not exceed six liters. Moreover, according to experts, this composition can be successfully used in engines equipped with a turbocharger and a catalyst. By the way, all Liqui Moly products are made in Germany.
