How to cool down a hot car fast

Knowing how to cool down a hot car in the heat and sun can save you the discomfort of sitting in a hot car on your way to your destination. By taking some precautions beforehand, you can ensure that your car is cool and comfortable. And there are also some proven ways you can use to cool your car.

Method 1 of 3: Use a sun visor

Required material

  • carport

Blocking out the warming rays of the sun is one way to keep your car interior cool. While a shade can only protect from the sun coming in through the front window, it should provide enough protection from the sun's rays to help cool the interior. In addition, a car sun visor has the advantage of shielding the steering wheel and shift knob from the sun's rays so they stay cool to the touch.

Step 1: Unfold the sun visor. Open the sun visor in the car. This makes it easier to put it in place.

Step 2: Install the umbrella. Insert the bottom of the sun visor into the bottom of the dash, aiming for where the dash and window meet. Before proceeding, make sure the sun visor is fully seated on the windshield and is snug against where the windshield meets the dashboard.

Step 3: Attach the top of the sun visor.. Raise the sunshade until it touches the top edge of the windshield. The sun visor must be cut out so that it can fit around the rear view mirror.

Step 4: Adjust sun visors securely. Pull the sun visors down on both sides and press them against the windshield and sun visor. Sun visors should hold the sun visor in place. If your sun visor has suction cups, press them firmly against the windshield to secure them.

Step 5: Remove the sun visor. Remove the sun visor by following the steps you took to install it in reverse order. This entails returning the sun visors to their raised position, lowering the sun visor from top to bottom, and then pulling it out of the bottom of the window. Finally, fold the sun visor and secure it with an elastic loop or velcro before putting it away.

Method 2 of 3: use air circulation

By using the climate controls in your car, you can cool your car down quickly and easily. This method requires you to use the car's windows and air conditioning system to quickly remove hot air and replace it with cooler air.

Step 1: Open all windows. When starting the car for the first time, roll down all the windows in the car. If you have a sunroof or sunroof, this should also be opened as this makes it easier to push the hot air out.

Step 2. Turn on the air conditioner. If possible, turn on the air conditioner for fresh air instead of recirculation mode. This allows fresher, cooler air to be fed into the vehicle instead of recirculating the same hot air.

Step 3: Set AC High. Set the thermostat to the lowest temperature and all the way. While this may not seem to have any effect at first, you should be able to feel the air cooling inside the car pretty quickly.

Step 4: Drive with windows open. Drive with the windows down for a few minutes. The force of the wind in the windows should help push the hot air out of the car.

Step 5: Cold Air Recirculation. As the air cools, turn on the air controls to recirculate cooler air. The air, which is now colder than the air outside the vehicle, cools more easily at this point. Now you can also roll up your car windows and adjust your thermostat settings to your desired temperature.

Method 3 of 3: Leave the windows slightly lowered

Necessary materials

  • Clean rag
  • Water container

This method requires your car windows to be slightly rolled down. This method, based on the principle of heat lifting, allows the hot air inside the vehicle to escape at its highest point, the roof line. You must be careful not to open your car windows too far to prevent theft.

  • Functions: In addition to having the windows slightly rolled down, you can leave a rag and water in the car. When getting into a hot car, moisten a cloth with water and wipe the steering wheel and shift knob. Evaporating water should cool surfaces, making them safe to touch.

Step 1: Lower the windows slightly. Slightly lowering the window under the scorching sun, you can release hot air from the car. While this will not stop hot air buildup completely, the hot air must exit the vehicle via the exit path provided by the rolled down windows.

Step 2: Don't lower your windows too low. Try to keep the opening small enough so that someone doesn't put their hand through the window and open the car. The opening, about half an inch wide, should allow sufficient air flow.

Step 3: Turn on the car alarm. If your car has a car alarm, make sure it is turned on too. This should deter potential thieves.

  • A warningA: If you plan to leave the vehicle for a long time, you may choose not to use this method. Unattended cars with apparently easier access become a prime target for thieves. In addition, parking in well-lit public areas where your vehicle is in full view of passing pedestrians and motorists can further discourage theft.

In order to effectively cool the interior of your car, it is important that your air conditioner is always working properly, including belts and fans. You can get professional advice and solve your problem, if necessary, by consulting with one of our experienced mechanics.
