How cheap car gadgets can kill a car

On the counter of the store are two seemingly identical car chargers, while they differ in price twice. The AvtoVzglyad portal figured out why there is such a difference, and what will happen to the car if you buy the cheapest gadget.

The temptation to buy a cheaper car gadget is great. And after all, their diversity literally ripples in the eyes. Various chargers that are inserted into a regular cigarette lighter, power supplies for the DVR, there are even car kettles and entire car vacuum cleaners. At the same time, very often a fashionable charger is much cheaper than the same, but outwardly very plain.

Let this not be misleading. Indeed, now many people buy certain things, focusing on a beautiful wrapper and not thinking that a brightly presented product can be truly dangerous. The fact is that the car cigarette lighter socket is very imperfect. The same can be said about the charging plug, through which current flows and feeds, say, a DVR.

Look at the plug - it has two simple springy contacts, the size and location of which each manufacturer makes at its own discretion. And the size of the plugs varies greatly. Some are small, others are too large. From here a lot of problems arise. Often the plug is poorly fixed in the cigarette lighter socket. And poor fixation is poor contact, which leads to heating of the elements. As a result - melting of the part, short circuit and ignition of the electrical wiring of the machine.

Of course, in any car there is a fuse that protects the outlet. But he rarely helps. The problem is that the fuse will not blow if it overheats. It will open the circuit only when the circuit has already happened. Therefore, when the wires start to melt, only the driver can quickly react.

Meanwhile, overheating of the outlet is a very common phenomenon. Its main reason, we repeat, is the poor quality of the plug. In cheap gadgets, the plug may be thinner than necessary or with incorrectly placed contacts. During movement, it shakes in the socket, which causes heating of the contacts and even sparking. The result has already been mentioned above - the melting of contacts.

Another reason is the very high power of the appliance. Let's say a car kettle. Usually, it is recommended to connect devices with a consumption of no more than 120 watts to the cigarette lighter socket. Well, the noname teapot requires much more. So you get burnt fuses and melted wires. In short, a cheap Chinese gadget can easily set a car on fire.
