The center link has ball joints at both ends and connects the bipod arm and intermediate arm on your vehicle's suspension. This part is sometimes called the intermediate rod or rod. The main purpose of the center link is to simultaneously move the front wheels so that the car can turn smoothly. When you turn the steering wheel of your car, the steering mechanism pulls and pushes the center link. This pushing and pulling motion causes each tie rod to rotate together, and hence the front wheels turn at the same time. An intermediate lever is connected to the steering mechanism, and the central link holds everything together. Without the center link, you would have problems steering the car.

Over time, the ball joints and center link can wear or become damaged. Once the center link is not working properly, you will notice that the car starts to vibrate and wobble as you drive down the road. This will make it difficult to control your vehicle and also create a driving hazard. As soon as you notice this vibration or the car will wobble, it is important to have a professional mechanic replace the center link. Failure to do so could result in your vehicle breaking down, which could affect the suspension, requiring more extensive repairs.

Because the center link and the parts around it can become damaged and worn over time, you should be aware of the symptoms that indicate your vehicle needs to be checked.

Here are some signs that the center link needs to be replaced:

  • Wheel alignment disabled
  • Vibrations from wheels while driving
  • Your car shakes when driving on the road
  • The car is poorly controlled while driving
  • steering wheel vibrates

The center link is an important part of the steering, handling and overall safety of your vehicle. As soon as you notice any problems, your vehicle should be repaired immediately.
