How long does a cold start injector last?

The cold start injector is also known as the cold start valve and is an important part of keeping the engine running smoothly. The cold start injector is an electronically controlled fuel injector and is added to the cold air inlet located on the intake manifold. If the engine temperature drops below a certain value, the computer tells the injector to add more fuel to the air mixture. This helps richen the mixture in the cylinders and makes it easier to start the car.

Over time, the cold start injector can wear out and not work properly due to the fact that it is used every time the car is started. When this happens, the engine will idle poorly and sound rough. In addition, the engine may stall each time the vehicle is started until it has warmed up.

One thing that can create problems with a cold start injector is the thermometer firing interval. If this interval is set too long, the engine will take a long time to start before starting. In this case, it is necessary to shorten the switching interval of the thermometer. The cold start injector may become clogged with debris. In this case, the car will not start at all until the blockage is cleared. If the cold start injector pressure is too high, your engine will get a lean air/fuel mixture. This will cause the engine to start and then stop. The opposite may also happen. If the cold start injector pressure is too low, the air/fuel mixture will become rich, causing the engine to smoke and then stall when you try to start the car. This is a serious problem and should not be left unattended, so a mechanic should be contacted immediately to diagnose and/or replace the problematic part.

Because a cold start injector can fail over time, you should be aware of the symptoms it gives off before it needs to be replaced.

Signs that a cold start injector needs to be replaced:

  • Engine won't start if you take your foot off the gas pedal
  • Engine won't start or stalls when you try to start it
  • Engine stalls when trying to start it
  • Car won't start at all

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, you should contact a certified mechanic to have your problem fixed.
