How to walk on plaster stilts?
Wonkee Donkee has the following tips to help you use plaster stilts. The stilts must be in a neutral and upright position. There should be no tendency to lean forward or backward.
Similarly, the lateral balance should also be neutral, so the calf braces should not pull in or out.
If you are just starting out, take slow, small, deliberate steps, keeping your stilts well apart.
When you feel more confident, you can take a step wider.
Always walk forward when wearing stilts.
It is advisable to have a table or bench so that you can easily get on and off the stilts.
Use a plasterer's bench (also called a mortar stand). This allows you to keep your tools close at hand. Click here for information on Mortar Racks.
An installed bench (like the one above) eliminates the need for unnecessary bends that put stress on the stilts and your body. |
