How to use the battery and charger for cordless power tool?
Batteries and chargers for cordless power tools are very easy to use so you don't have to think much about them and you can get on with your work. The most important thing to keep in mind is the use of compatible batteries, chargers and cordless power tools. | |
Installing the battery | |
Step 1 - Align the BatteryIf the battery is a removable battery, align the battery so that the "tab" fits between the grooves or "rails" of the cordless power tool. | |
If the battery is a pole type battery, align the pole with the hole in the cordless power tool, making sure the battery is in the correct direction (the shape of the hole means you can't insert it wrong). | |
Step 2 - Click in PlaceSlide or push the battery into place, making sure it makes an audible click when the latch snaps into place. Otherwise, the battery is installed incorrectly and may fall out during use. Pull it back out and try again. If you find that you have to force insert the battery, something is wrong. Remove the battery and check for obstructions before trying again. | |

Step 1: Stop using the cordless power toolStop using the power tool and allow any moving parts to stop before attempting to remove the battery. | |
Step 2 - Press the / and shutter buttonThere are one or two release buttons on the top or side of the battery. Click them to release the latch. The buttons are usually different colors so they are easy to find. | |
Step 3 - Remove the batteryRemove the battery from the cordless power tool. | |
Using the charger | |
Step 1 - Plug in your chargerPlug the charger cord into a suitable socket. Most chargers operate on a normal 230V household power supply. Plug in the outlet. | |
Step 2 - Install the batteryInstall the battery in the charger in the same way as in the previous section. Installing the battery. Use the diagnostic LEDs to see if the battery has started charging. This is often indicated by a solid red light, but check your charger manual to be sure. | |
Step 3 - Remove the batteryRemove the battery when the diagnostic LEDs indicate that the battery is fully charged. This is usually indicated by a solid green light or beep, but again, check your manual to be sure. The size and manufacturer affect the charging time of the battery. New technologies and smaller batteries will charge the fastest. | |
Step 4 - Disconnect the chargerTurn off power to the outlet and unplug the charger for storage after use to avoid damaging it, such as getting dirt on the terminals. |
