If you do not go into design features and technical details, then the ignition coil is a kind of inverter that converts the low voltage current from the battery into a higher one - capable of providing a spark in candles. The coils are common, transmitting electricity to the candles through the distributor at a certain period of time for each candle. A more modern option - individual coils - these are used on most current cars. And coils capable of producing two sparks are double-spark. But whatever the ignition coils, they all have to work in very bad conditions.

Exposure to moisture, vibration, high voltage, temperature changes, chemistry on the roads - all this negatively affects the ignition coils. But even in this case, they can serve for quite a long time.

But faulty or worn spark plugs are the main cause of coil failure. The spark plugs or high-voltage wires connecting them to the coil increase resistance, which, in turn, can cause a short circuit. The problem is exacerbated by dirty, corroded contacts, insufficient tightness or mechanical damage.

As a result, “sneezing” and twitching, at one fine moment, the car engine may not start at all. Therefore, you must always listen to his work. So, for example, Bosch experts recommend paying attention to the condition of the spark plugs and ignition coils, if you suddenly notice that the fuel consumption of the engines has increased, misfires and pops have appeared due to incompletely burned fuel. It is not possible to wave a hand at the problem. First, it will not be comfortable to ride. And secondly, at one fine moment, as already mentioned, the car simply will not start.

If all these special effects are present on your car, then you should not delay replacing the ignition coil. Moreover, it is desirable to entrust the performance of these works to specialists with experience, special equipment and tools. In addition, you need to remember that you will have to work with high voltage, which means that you need to take all appropriate safety measures. And so that all this does not happen again, it is necessary to replace not only the coil, but also to find out the reason for its failure.
