How to buy snow socks with good quality tires

When the white material starts to fall off, you need to take action. For many drivers, winter tires are the right choice. For others, it is better to use snow chains. However, you can actually benefit from something else - tire socks. They are much more common in the UK than in the US, but are becoming more widely available.

Tire socks work similarly to tire chains, but they are made from fabric instead of metal. This makes them a good choice for situations where the snow isn't too deep (when chains aren't really needed, but the extra traction is useful). They are put on the tire and fixed with ties.

• Size: You definitely need to make sure that the tire socks you choose are the right size for your tires. If you're not entirely sure what tire size you have, check the sidewall on the tire or the decal on the inside of the driver's door. It should look like this: P2350 / 60R16.
