What is the best way to park to the curb - back or front

Many drivers, driving into a perpendicular parking lot or garage, are faced with a choice: how to drive the car - “bow” or “stern”. Everyone has their own thoughts and habits in this regard, which we will talk about.

Let's start with the fact that parking astern is much preferable in terms of maneuverability. When a moving car has steered wheels at the back, it is more mobile and agile. Otherwise, that is, when entering the garage in front, in conditions of a lack of free space, you will have to perform several additional maneuvers.

Another thing is that not all novice motorists have enough experience in driving a car when reversing, but it is extremely necessary to work out this skill to perfection. Indeed, in any case, having parked the car in the parking lot or in the garage with the front part, you still have to drive back.

It should also be borne in mind that taxiing into a busy road astern is usually more difficult due to limited visibility. And if the windows are also icy in winter, then you have to wait until they completely thaw. For this reason, it is much more convenient to immediately park a warm car with clean windows on the back.

When leaving the car for the night in severe frost with the front bumper close to the wall or fence, keep in mind: if the car does not start in the morning, it will be difficult to get to the engine compartment. And in order, for example, to “light up” the battery, you will need to roll it out by hand or in tow.

However, there are also arguments against. For example, many people think that it’s better to park in front, because in this case you can avoid unpleasant surprises that you won’t see when you back up – like a low pipe sticking out at the curb. This is especially true in an unfamiliar place.

In addition, if we are talking about a supermarket parking lot, then in this position access to the trunk is completely open, and you do not have to carry bags in a narrow aisle between cars. Another good reason is relevant in the face of a shortage of free space: while you are aiming to drive into a parking space in reverse, there is a good chance that someone more efficient and arrogant will already have time to take it. And mooring in front, you can immediately indicate whose place it is.

In general, most often drivers drive into the parking lot “facing” forward, as they say, “on the machine” or simply because they are in a hurry for urgent business. In any case, which method of parking is considered optimal depends largely on the specified circumstances and personal preferences.
