How to apply glitter shadows?

Glitter, golden particles or iridescent dust are special effects in New Year's and carnival make-up. They enliven the exterior, provide a majestic entrance, and while they may seem difficult to apply, don't be discouraged. There are ways to make the glitter stick to the skin and look perfect.

Before we move on to methods and tips, let's take a look at winter season trends. According to fashion designers and make-up artists, in winter we should shine and impress on a par with New Year's fireworks. Therefore, sequins, gold and pearls are still in fashion. Just look at the models on the catwalks.

Let's start with the simplest inspiration from the Dries Van Noten show. The skin of the models is delicately smoothed with foundation, lotion on the lips and just one decorative cosmetic: glitter on the upper and lower eyelids. Spreads spontaneously without following lines and angles. Simply applied with the tip of your finger. This simple and effective inspiration has a continuation. At the Halpern show, models sparkled from afar, thanks to silver glitter running all the way down to the brows. Again, this was the only decorative cosmetic used in makeup.

No less spectacular was the image of the models on the Rodarte catwalk. Here, the same cosmetic product appeared on the eyelids and lips: a cream with pink glitter. There were also glittery mascaras (see: Byblos show) and silver eyeliners (Bora Aksu). And also make-up with accessories! Pearls, sequins and beads are glued on the faces of models Marco de Vincenzo, Adeam and Christian Siriano. All of these brilliant looks had one thing in common: no additional decorative cosmetics. On the faces of most models there was no blush, no mascara, or even colored lipstick. Thanks to this procedure, the effect has become even better. Perhaps it's worth echoing the inspiration from the catwalks and focusing on the application of shiny makeup so that it lasts from evening to morning.

Particle application method

Let's start with glitter. There are two options to choose from: more difficult, i.e. loose glitter, or simple and practical, i.e. cream. If you're into a challenge, check out Essence Loose Glitter. How to apply it? Make it the first beauty product you use for makeup. Leave the foundation and powder for the end, this is a great way to hide any mistakes or loose particles. The next step needed for the glitter to adhere to the skin is the base. It provides grip and holds the glitter to the skin almost like glue. It is best to use a special glitter base like LASplash Till Midnight Elix'r.

The last rule is a finger instead of a hand. Pick up the particles with a slightly damp fingertip and scatter the excess. Then press on the tip of the eyelid, mouth or any other place on the body. If you notice one or two particles on your cheek, the easiest way to get rid of them is by sticking adhesive tape there. Let's move on to the easier-to-use cream glitter version. The base is not needed here. You can try Vipera, Mineral Dream Glitter Gel. Apply gel particles with the included applicator, wait for it to dry and you're done. At the end of your makeup, spray your face with a setting spray, such as Makeup Revolution Sport Fix.

Eyeliner, pearls and glitter

A silver or gold line on the eyelids is a great choice for an evening out. Especially if you are planning a glossy outfit. Importantly, this shade "catches the light" and changes under its influence. With candles it gets warmer, and when the LED is on, it gets cooler. So how to make a shiny line on the eyelid? It is enough to draw a thick line with eyeliner along the upper eyelid to the very temple. Another option: draw a wide and short line above the upper eyelashes, without going beyond the outer corner of the eye. Choose an eyeliner with a precision applicator or brush, such as Dermacol, Metallic Chic. Do not be afraid of corrections, you can thicken the silver or gold line endlessly, the effect will always be impressive.

How about jewelry like pearls or crystals on the face? You can try a more modest version with two crystals glued to the inner corners of the eye. A special makeup glue or a simple false eyelash glue, such as Ardell, LashGrip, will come in handy here. And if you have the courage and imagination to appear strewn with rhinestones, stick them on your cheeks and temples. You can choose small pearls such as Rosie's Studio and stick them along the brow bone or on the upper eyelid. Don't forget to stick them on clean skin. Apply a drop of eyelash glue to the jewelry and gently press it against the skin.
