How to adjust car mirrors for your height

Your vehicle has three mirrors that provide views from behind and on either side of you. While they are not the most technologically advanced accessories in your vehicle, they are essential. If they are not adjusted properly, your visibility will be obstructed and your safety (as well as the safety of your passengers) will be compromised. But how to adjust the mirrors in the car? If you need to adjust your car's side mirror or rearview mirror, it's actually quite simple.

Side mirrors

To adjust the side mirrors, make sure the driver's seat is in the correct position for your reach. You should be able to easily hold and turn the handlebars, and your feet should reach the pedals without stretching.

Next, find the mirror adjuster. On some vehicles, this is a rod protruding from the rear of the mirror housing. On others, it's a row of buttons on the armrest of the door. You don't want to see your car in the mirror. This is contrary to common practice, but the fact remains that if you see a car from the side, you cannot see the cars from the side. Repeat this for the other side mirror.

Rear-view mirrors

Adjusting the rearview mirror is as easy as adjusting the side mirrors. Whether you were replacing your car mirror, someone else was driving, or the mirror just moved, you only need to follow a few simple steps.

Sit properly in the driver's seat with your hands on the steering wheel as if you were driving and your feet should reach the pedals without stretching your legs. Tilt the mirror up or down until the entire rear window is visible. You may also need to adjust it left or right - the mirror has a ball joint and is easy to move.
