How to find a lost chimney rod using a search tool?
Content
Step 1 - Connect the extraction tool
Attach an extraction tool to the end of the chimney rod and insert it into the chimney towards the stuck rod, adding rods until you have the length you need to get to it.
Step 2 - Insert the rods into the chimney
Once you have reached the lost rod, continue inserting the extraction tool about six inches further and begin slowly turning the rods clockwise.
Step 3 - Rotate the rods clockwise.
Continue slowly turning the rods connected to the retrieval tool until the lost stud enters the coils of the retrieval tool.
Step 4 - Keep turning the rods
As you continue to slowly turn the extraction tool, the lost rod should penetrate deeper into the coils of the extraction tool.
Step 5 - Slowly pull the rods back up the chimney.
When you are sure that the lost rod is stuck in the coils of the extraction tool, begin to slowly pull the rods back out of the chimney. The connection at the end of the lost rod should be stuck in the coils of the extraction tool, holding it firmly.
