How To: Bypass the Footrest Safety Switch on a Motorcycle

In this tutorial, we will learn how to bypass the kickstand safety switch on a motorcycle. If you break a footpeg switch, you can easily bypass it while you're on the road to set up your bike. All you have to do is a piece of duct tape. If you don't have this on your bike, the vehicle will shut down completely while using it. To do this, turn off the switch, which is the footrest's safety switch. There will be two electrical tabs, poke a screwdriver into them to remove the wires from each side. Then connect those two loose wires with duct tape and then check your bike to make sure it's connected properly. When you're done, put it back in a place where you won't hit it and ride your bike!
