The TDC sensor is one of the electronic components of your vehicle's engine system. Its role is to accurately determine the amount of fuel injected using the engine computer and the crankshaft rotation speed using the engine flywheel teeth. Knowing the position of the pistons, it sends information to the engine ECU so that it can inject fuel while optimizing combustion. Step 1. Locate the TDC sensor.
It is best to wait for your vehicle to cool down before starting this maneuver if you have just traveled on board. In fact, it will reduce the risk of burns, even if you wear protective gloves. Then locate the TDC sensor between the flywheel and the crankshaft. If the TDC sensor is not visible, you will have to disassemble the air filter housing to gain access to it.
Step 2: Disassemble the TDC sensor
Using a wrench, first remove the two screws holding the TDC sensor in place. You can now remove it from the slot. It remains only to disable it by clicking on the tab. Remove it from the vehicle and place it on a flat surface.
Step 3: clean the TDC sensor
Take a penetrating oil and spray it all over the TDC sensor. Using a microfiber cloth, gently wipe the TDC sensor to remove any debris. Repeat the operation until the PHM sensor is completely clean.
Step 4. Reinstall the TDC sensor.
You can reassemble the TDC sensor by repeating the previous steps in reverse order. Reconnect the TDC sensor, then tighten the fixing screws. Moreover, if you have to disassemble the air filter housing, you will also need to mount it.
Step 5. Test the car to start it.
To verify that the starting problem is indeed due to a clogged TDC sensor, you can start the vehicle by turning on the ignition. Pay attention to the engine cranking speed and any suspicious noises that may appear.
Cleaning your vehicle's TDC sensor is a fairly simple maneuver that can be performed if you have some knowledge of automotive mechanics. However, if the problem is in the resistance of the sensor, its voltage should be checked with a multimeter. So the TDC sensor is not a wear part because it can last the lifetime of your vehicle, but if poorly maintained it may need to be replaced on your vehicle.
