How to cool the earth

The Earth's climate is getting warmer. One can argue, first of all it is a person or the main reasons should be sought elsewhere. However, accurate measurements that were carried out over several decades cannot be denied? the temperature in the biosphere is getting higher and higher, and the ice cap covering the North Pole region melted to a record low size during the summer of 2012.

According to data published by the German Institute for Renewable Energy, anthropogenic emissions of CO2, the gas considered the biggest contributor to adverse climate change, reached a record 2011 billion tons in 34. In turn, the International Meteorological Organization reported in November 2012 that the Earth's atmosphere already contains 390,9 parts per million of carbon dioxide, which is two parts more than ten years ago, and 40% more than in pre-industrialization times. .

The visions are as follows: fertile coastal regions under water, entire and noisy cities flooded. Famine and millions of refugees. Natural disasters with unprecedented intensity. Lands with a temperate climate, abundant in water, pass into hot dry steppes and semi-deserts. Arid regions are drowned in annual floods.

Today, such consequences of climate change are seriously discussed. The case may mean the collapse of civilization in large areas of the Earth. So it's no surprise that bold, sometimes fantastic-sounding geoengineering projects have been gearing up to stop global warming.

Flow of ideas

Ideas for global cooling? not missing. Many of them are focused on reflecting solar radiation. Some people want to?whiten? clouds spraying salty spray on them. More cloud ideas? it's bacteria that produce more of them or launch artificial clouds from balloons. Others want to re-saturate the Earth's stratosphere with sulfur compounds so that this layer better reflects solar radiation. Even more ambitious projects involve placing a mirror system in orbit around the Earth that would knock out and possibly obscure large swaths of the planet.

There are also more original designs. Some people dream of genetically engineering colorful crop varieties so that large areas of them better reflect the sun's rays. A film that some of the creators intend to cover with vast areas of deserts on our planet would have a similar purpose and effect.
