How to clean a carburetor without removing it from the car

A carburetor is a device responsible for preparing the air-fuel mixture in gasoline engines. Performing a carburetor cleaning service helps keep it performing well.

The carburetor was developed in the second half of the XNUMXth century, along with the gasoline internal combustion engine (Otto cycle), to provide the correct mixture of the two components it needs, air and fuel, and also to allow control of the speed at which the engine was running.

Modern cars already have a gasoline injection system that replaced carburetors. However, not so modern cars use a carburetor, which is the heart of the car.

Like most automotive systems, the carburetor also needs maintenance to function properly. Cleaning always helps improve carburetor performance.

So here we are telling you how to clean a carburetor without removing it from the car

1.- Remove dishes

The rubber or plastic parts must be removed first, as cleaning solvents can damage them. Check the bowls at the bottom of the car's carburetor, this is the part of the car we need to remove before cleaning.

2.- Use a carburetor cleaner.

After removing the plate and all rubber elements, apply carburetor cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the carburetor, then wait a couple of minutes before re-spraying. This ensures that the carbohydrate is completely covered.

3.- Replace judgments

In many cases, drivers tend to reinstall old chainrings. However, the new bowl helps reduce the chance of carburetor damage.

4.- Restart the engine

After all these steps, you can restart the engine and continue driving.

It is most advisable to clean every 3,000 km or half a year. This not only serves the purpose of maximizing engine efficiency, increasing fuel economy, but also preventing dirt build-up.
