How to clean your car with household items

Look in your closets and you'll find cleaners just waiting to be used in your car. When you use the ingredients you have at home, cleaning the car inside and out is a breeze. They are cheaper and safe for many materials. Follow these sections for sparkling interiors and exteriors.

Part 1 of 7: Wetting the Car Body

Necessary materials

  • Baking soda
  • Bucket
  • garden hose

Step 1: Wash your car. Start by thoroughly washing your car with a hose. It breaks up dry dirt and debris. Use a soft sponge to gently scrub the outside surface to prevent dirt from scratching or damaging the paint.

Step 2: Create a Blend. Mix one cup of baking soda with one gallon of hot water. This mixture helps remove dirt from your car without being too harsh.

Part 2 of 7. Cleaning the outside

Necessary materials

  • Brush (hard bristles)
  • Bucket
  • Soap
  • Sponge
  • water

Step 1: Create a Blend. To clean the entire surface, mix ¼ cup of soap with one gallon of hot water.

Make sure the soap has a vegetable oil base. Do not use dishwashing soap as it may damage your vehicle's paintwork.

Use a sponge to clean the outside and a stiff bristled brush for tires and wheels.

Part 3 of 7: Rinse Outside

Necessary materials

  • Sprayer
  • Vinegar
  • water

Step 1: rinse. Rinse all ingredients off the vehicle with cold water and a hose.

Step 2: Spray outside. Mix vinegar and water in a 3:1 ratio in a spray bottle. Spray the product outside the car and wipe it with newspaper. Your car will dry without streaks and shine.

Part 4 of 7: Clean the windows

Necessary materials

  • Alcohol
  • Sprayer
  • Vinegar
  • water

Step 1: Create a Blend. Make window cleaner with one cup of water, half a cup of vinegar, and one-quarter cup of alcohol. Mix and pour into a spray bottle.

Step 2: Spray and dry. Spray window solution on windows and use newspaper to dry. Save this task for last to remove any other cleaners that may have accidentally spilled onto the glass.

Step 3: Remove bugs. Use plain vinegar to remove insect splashes.

Part 5 of 7: Clean up the interior

Step 1: Wipe. Wipe the inside with a clean damp cloth. Use it on the dashboard, center console and other areas.

The following table shows which products act on different areas of the vehicle interior:

Part 6 of 7: Removing stubborn stains

Treat stains on your car with special products that remove them without damaging the exterior. The ingredient used depends on the type of stain.

  • Functions: Use a soft cloth that will not be abrasive to your car's paint. For hard-to-reach places, use a dust mop that works on the roof and other places.

Part 7 of 7: Upholstery Cleaning

Necessary materials

  • Brush
  • Corn starch
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Dryer sheets
  • Bow
  • vacuum
  • water
  • wet rag

Step 1: Vacuum. Vacuum upholstery to remove dirt.

Step 2: Sprinkle and Wait. Sprinkle the spots with corn starch and leave for half an hour.

Step 3: Vacuum. Vacuum the corn starch.

Step 4: Create a paste. Mix corn starch with a little water if the stain persists. Apply the paste on the stain and let it dry. Then it will be easy to vacuum it.

Step 5: Spray the mixture and blot. Another option is to mix equal parts water and vinegar and pour into a spray bottle. Spray it on the stain and let it soak in for a few minutes. Blot it with a cloth. If that doesn't work, rub gently.

Step 6: Treat Grass Stains. Treat grass stains with a solution of equal parts rubbing alcohol, vinegar, and warm water. Rub the stain and rinse the area with water.

Step 7: Treat Cigarette Burns. Put the raw onion on the cigarette mark. While this won't repair the damage, the acid from the onion will soak into the fabric and make it less noticeable.

Step 8: Treat stubborn stains. Mix one cup of dish soap with one cup of soda and one cup of white vinegar and spray on stubborn stains. Use a brush to apply it to the stain.

  • Functions: Place dryer sheets under floor mats, in storage pockets, and under seats to freshen the air.
