How to prepare your car for summer

How to make sure that the car does not break down on the way to the bathhouse and barbecue? "AvtoVzglyad" has collected the main stages of preparing a car for the summer season.

Salon

We start with the salon. Even if you are the most responsible and accurate driver in the world, during the winter a lot of small garbage and unnecessary things have probably accumulated in your car - old magazines in the pocket of the seats, fast food bags or felt-tip pens that the child lost a few months ago. After throwing out large debris, vacuum the interior.

Pay attention to the glass - during the winter, a layer of soot accumulates on their inner side, even if they do not smoke in the cabin. Therefore, it is ideal to wash the glass with a cleaning agent or a steam cleaner. Be careful when washing heated windows: moving across the conductive strips can damage them.

Oil

If you have been driving all winter on "winter" oil, it's time to change it to the summer version.

Cooling system

A faulty cooling system can cause a lot of problems in the summer. If your car is not new, do not be too lazy to check its serviceability. The electric fan must turn on and operate normally, otherwise the car may boil if it overheats. Check the coolant level in the radiator or translucent expansion tank. Pay attention to the tension of the belt, which should drive the grits of the pump. Sometimes it can slip due to low tension, wear or oil.

Radiator

A faulty radiator can also cause your car to overheat in the summer. Check it out with great care. It can be clogged with dirt, leaves, fluff and dust. Given that in the summer in most cities the problem of poplar fluff was still not solved, it is better not to subject the radiator to additional tests and clean it now. It is worth paying attention to the water side of the radiator and the fluid pipes. There may be corrosion, dirt or scale that will prevent the coolant from circulating.

If the radiator is clogged on the air side, it should be flushed with a light jet of water from the engine side or blown with compressed air.

Air filter

If you've noticed lately that you've been using more fuel and your car doesn't feel as powerful as it used to, it could be the air filter. A clogged air filter offers increased resistance to air flow, resulting in reduced engine power and increased fuel consumption. In this case, it is better to replace the filter element - it is relatively inexpensive.

Locks

If any defrost liquid was poured into the door locks or the trunk lid in winter, it's time to remove it. Over the summer, dust will stick to the oily base of the liquid, and moisture will condense over time. This will lead to the fact that next winter there will be even more problems with freezing castles.

Wipers

If the wiper blades are worn out and more and more often leave uncleaned areas on the glass, it is worth replacing either them or the rubber bands if the wipers are collapsible. Rubber bands cost a penny, and visibility in rainy weather increases significantly.

Don't forget to fill the windshield washer reservoir with a special summer washer fluid. It is more effective for washing glass than plain water. Windshield washer fluid will easily cope with the remnants of traces of insects, soot and oil, traces of buds, flowers and berries and other organic stains.

Washing

The final touch when preparing your car for the summer is a thorough wash. If you want to save yourself from problems, you can go to a professional car wash.

For self-washing a car, the best option is high-pressure cleaners, such as those in the Full Control series from Karcher. The pressure of the jet of water in these sinks is regulated by the rotation of a special nozzle. The gun has a display that shows the selected mode of operation.

It is always better to wash the body from the bottom up - it will be better to see the unwashed areas. If washing the car with a brush, first remove dirt and sand with a high-pressure jet. This way you won't scratch the paintwork.
