Going on a long trip, there are many adventures that you should be prepared for, especially when you have to do a little maintenance on your car on the side of the road.

The best thing to do is to take the time to check your car and pack a few things to help you activate it so you can continue your journey.

This is a list to help you get your car ready for a long trip.

1.- First aid kit

Make sure you have everything you need to get through a night or two in case something goes wrong. Before leaving, check the weather conditions to be well prepared and always have plenty of water with you.

2.- Check the charging system

If you're going on a long trip, it's good to know that your car's battery is fully charged and the alternator is working properly.

3.- Check tires

Make sure tires have good tread and correct air pressure. If necessary, or buy new tires if they have a short life.

Don't forget to check the spare tire, test it and make sure it works.

4.- Engine oil

Make sure the car has enough oil to properly lubricate the internal engine components.

5.- Check the cooling system

Make sure you have enough coolant and inspect the coolant hoses to make sure none of them are hard and brittle or too soft and porous.

Check the radiator cap and surrounding area for coolant leaks.
