How to connect a Bose speaker to a regular speaker wire (with photo)

Boss Lifestyle speakers are great for a home theater or stereo system. They are pre-installed with wires with a plug, which should be connected to a Bose amplifier or any other sound system. However, you can also connect your Bose speakers to another stereo or connect them to a new host model. If you want to know how to do it, then this guide is for you.

People often end up guessing connections, resulting in poor sound output and damage. Today we have an experienced guest writer and friend, Eric Pierce, with 10 years experience in home theater installations, to help. Let's start.

Quick Review: Connecting Bose speakers to regular speaker wires is very easy.

  1. First, connect your Bose speaker to a compatible jack and strip the speaker wires from the insulation at the terminals (about ½ inch).
  2. Now connect one end of the red and black speaker wires to the positive and negative ports on the Bose speaker.
  3. Connect the other end to your receiver/amplifier.
  4. Finally, connect the relevant parts and turn on the receiver. Tune in and enjoy the music.

Connecting a Bose Speaker to a Regular Speaker Wire - Procedure

There are several ways to connect a Bose speaker to a regular wire connecting it to an amplifier or receiver. The connection (wiring) will work fine with a 10 gauge receiver cable. The use of bare wires or banana plugs allows users to select the length of wire needed for the system.

The following steps will help you connect your Bose speaker to a regular speaker wire:

  1. Plug the Bose speaker plug into a compatible jack on the Bose speaker adapter.
  2. Use a wire stripper to remove ½ inch of insulation from every two strands on one end of the speaker wire.
  1. Connect the red speaker wire to the red station jack on the Bose speaker. Lift up the red spring strap to reveal a hole to attach the wire to.
  1. Connect the black wire to the black station on the Bose speaker. Attach it in the same way as the red speaker wire.
  2. Now focus on the other end of the speaker wire. Use a stripper to remove the insulating coating from both strands of the wire. Strip about ½ inch of insulation. Go ahead and attach the bare threads to the row of ports behind the receiver.

At this point, turn on the receiver by toggling the appropriate speaker switch on the speaker dashboard. Go ahead and activate a pair of wired Bose speakers.

(For Bose Lifestyle speakers, they usually connect to the Speaker System 1 console. So press the button/switch for that sound system. You can adjust the volume to your desired level on the dashboard.)

The XNUMX-wire audio cable is ideal for connecting sound systems directly to a receiver/amplifier. Oxygen-free copper wires (with more strands) have a polarity wire to distinguish between positive and negative polarity tracking. This allows the subwoofer wire to be ideal for non-standard equipment.

Always use a 2-wire audio cable with banana plugs, bent-prong devices, and spade lugs. The wire is usually wound on a rigid spool. Measure to the desired length, cut and store properly.

You can also use durable and versatile pvc airtight shells for home and cars. It directs your stereo system to produce high quality sound by eliminating distorted audio frequencies.

Splicing the pre-supplied audio cable from your Bose system in the center with another wire allows you to measure the length. I recommend using 50 feet to stretch the existing wire.

Use a third party wire with suitable connectors. When using an AC2 unit, attach separate speakers to the wall plate to provide an output connection to the main unit. Such adapters are available from Bose.

How to set up the Bose Lifestyle System Music Center

To set up your Bose Lifestyle system, follow these steps:

  • Connect the RCA plugs to the fixed output cords on the music center's audio input wire. (1)
  • Connect the 3.5mm plug to single jack control systems.
  • Now insert the XNUMX-pin tube into the Acoustimass device's input jack opposite the audio input jack.

Connecting speakers to regular speaker wires

Step 1: Decipher the wires

The blue cables are for the front speaker wires. Their plug body is coded L, R and C. The red rings are marked LEFT, RIGHT and CENTER on the positive wire.

The orange plugs have the letters L and R built into the control panel. Left and right are marked with red collars on the positive wire. (2)

Step 2: Connect each speaker

Connect the positive/red wire to the red port and then the negative/black wire to the black connector, connecting each speaker. Do not insert a cable gland into the assembly openings, only open terminals should be installed.

Step 3: Integrate the right speaker wire

The right speaker wire should go to the Acoustimass device.

Connecting Bare Wires to Speaker Wires

Set up Bose Lifestyle Music Center, then follow these steps:

Step 1: Remove the top covers

The black and red caps represent the negative and positive ports, respectively. Covers support binding posts; remove them to reveal small holes.

Step 2 Connect the positive and negative leads to the receiver/amplifier.

First, modify the bare speaker wires to make one wire element, and then insert each side of the cable into the open holes in the cover.

Now connect the connection coming from the positive terminal to the positive terminal on the receiver. Proceed with connecting the negative terminal to the black ports on the receiver.

Step 3: Secure the connecting line in place

Make sure the line is properly tensioned.
