How to connect a polyrope electric fence? (Simple steps)

Are you planning to install an electric fence to protect your property and have chosen a polypropylene electric fence but don't know where to start? If yes, then as an electrician who has already connected this type of fence many times, I will walk you through the whole process.

In general, to connect a polyrope electric fence, you need:

  • Take two wires or broken pieces of plastic rope that you want to connect.
  • Tie them together to form a beautiful knot.
  • Weld knot
  • Twist the welded sections of the knot along its length or rope.

How to tie a poly rope

Step 1 - Weld the Wires

Take two wires or broken pieces of plastic rope that you want to connect. Tie them together to make a nice knot.

Then, if you don't have a propane torch, use a regular lighter to weld or burn the pieces of polyethylene rope together.

Make sure the stainless steel section is open.

Step 2 - Connect the Broken Polyropes

Once the coating has been burned off, allow the resin to cool - this will only take a few minutes. Then wind two knots around the plastic wire to get a neat and strong connection.

PolyWire Splicing Steps

A crimp sleeve connection is essential if you want a strong and durable connection.

To perform this splicing, you need:

  • Turn off the power to the fence.
  • Use a voltage tester to make sure the power is off.
  • Slip three ferrules onto one end of the gloved polyethylene wire.
  • Pass the second PE wire through the open slots on the bushings, keeping the bushings on the first PE wire.
  • Press the bushings firmly with a crimping tool to establish a firm connection.
  • By pulling on both ends to see if the polypropylene wire slips out, you can gauge the durability of the sleeve.
  • Plug in the power to the fence. Check the voltage levels on each side of the connection with a voltage tester. You are not getting a good connection and may have to repeat the connection if one side is noticeably lower.

Why are sleepers necessary?

Electric fences need connections for two main reasons.

1. To lengthen the fence. You cannot secure and insulate a corral without splicing. When one spool of electric polyethylene rope runs out, splices are required, but the fence still requires an extension. They provide the connection of the poly-rope between the coils.

2. To fix a broken plastic rope. The best way to do this is to create a splicing.

3. Various questions may cause the polyethylene rope to break. Some:

– Falling objects

– Garbage from trees and shrubs

– Stress caused by closed cattle

Why do polycanate compounds work?

As a rule, a group of crimp sleeves, which are supplied in packs of 25, are used for splicing polypropylene. These conductive metal fittings are designed to restore the electrical connection between two polywire components.

They achieve this by blocking the two sides and allowing the conductors of the polywire to touch. The electrical connection is restored through direct contact.

The clamping action created by the ferrules holds the polymer wires in place. To create a reliable connection, at least three crimp sleeves should be used for each connection.

The bushings grip the polywire and create the necessary electrical connection when they are compressed. The Polywire is also attached to the end post of the guardrail using crimp sleeves.

How to connect a polyethylene wire without a crimping tool?

Tie the ends of the polywire together as a temporary solution if you do not have immediate access to crimping sleeves or a crimping tool.

The electrical connection between the two sides of the electric fence will be restored with the help of several nodes.

But be careful - tying a polywire in a knot should only be a temporary solution. If your livestock regularly tests your knots, they may slip or break.
