How to choose the color of the light? How to read light temperature?

Choosing the right lamps can be more difficult than it sounds, especially if you decide to move from traditional electric light sources to modern LEDs. Therefore, before buying, you should find out what color of light you need and which bulbs to choose. In this article, we have collected for you all the most important information about the temperature of light and how to choose it for a particular room.

What does light temperature mean and how is it measured?

The temperature of the light is the color it takes on when the light bulb is turned on. However, we are not talking about colors in their traditional sense, such as green, purple or red. In this case, the usual range starts from yellow-orange, then goes to beige, then to white, until it reaches light shades of blue. These are shades characteristic of natural daylight.

Kelvin (abbreviated as K) is used to measure temperature. Their value most often fluctuates between 1000 K and 11 K. Lamps up to 000 K shine with a very warm light, even yellow. The 2000K light color is the most common because it produces neutral results. Cool colors start at 3000 K LEDs, and those above 4000 K are already blue-tinted light bulbs.

Why is the color of LED light important?

The correct choice of light temperature is very important in everyday life. At the beginning, we mentioned white fluorescent lamps, which, to put it mildly, are not very pleasant. An inadequate light bulb can affect the efficiency of work and the quality of rest - and after all, no one likes to work inefficiently and not be able to rest. In addition, the color of light has an impact on the perception of heat by a person. In a cold room, you should not install additional LEDs with a rating of, for example, 6000 K, because they will enhance the feeling of cold (unless this is an effect). If you want a much cozier interior, choose a light with a value of 2700 K and you will feel the difference.

Color of light depending on lumens and power, or what else needs to be remembered?

Temperature is one of the few factors to consider when shopping. In addition, the power of the light bulbs is important. In the case of LEDs, it is much lower than in the case of classic light bulbs. A fluorescent lamp with a power of only 6 W corresponds to an older relative with a power of as much as 60 W. This is a huge energy savings, resulting in lower energy bills, and, most importantly, environmentally friendly, helping to protect our environment.

In addition, you should also look at lumens, which determine how much light a given lamp emits. 200 lumens will give a slightly subdued light that creates an atmospheric atmosphere, 300-400 will illuminate most of the space well, and 600 lumens will be suitable for more precise work and is great for installation, for example, in front of a mirror. . It is worth remembering that stronger white light tires the eyes more than less intense and warm light.

What light color is suitable for different types of rooms?

Since we have already discussed more technical aspects, it is time to move on to practice, i.e. to how to choose the light for a particular type of room. First of all, you should think about what the room is intended for - for work, rest, or maybe both? Cooler-colored light encourages action and allows you to better focus, while warmer-colored light makes it easier to relax. Of course, these are not hard and fast rules that must always be followed. Furniture, number of so-called. diffusers or lumens intensity we mentioned earlier. In addition, the most versatile is the natural color of light, i.e. with a value of about 3000 K, which is suitable for almost any type of room.

If you want to experiment with different room temperatures, the best places for warm lighting are the living room and bedroom. It is also worth investing in such light bulbs for the children's room, because they will help the little ones calm down and put them to bed. On the other hand, a colder-colored light source will be useful for children doing homework, so it is best to install a lamp above the desk with a light bulb that emits light at a cooler temperature. It will also be useful in office spaces or by the bathroom mirror. Neutral light should be chosen throughout the bathroom, as well as in the hallway, kitchen and dressing room.

Do you have your own business? Choose your LED color for your industry

When thinking about which LEDs to buy, you have to ask yourself in what space they should shine. If in a warehouse or in a sorting hall - choose cold light. In the case of offices, branches or shops, especially food, it is best to choose a neutral light. It shows each product as it really is, so you avoid deceiving buyers.

Selecting the right lamp temperature is easy

Although the question of the color of light may at first glance seem like black magic, in fact it is not. You just need to keep a few of the most important details and units of measure in mind, and buying the right LED bulb will be a breeze.
