The TEENS program, developed by New York DVM, is for parents who want to monitor their teen's driving behavior.

TEENS (Teen Electronic Event Notification Service) is a service for parents or legal guardians whose teenage children are starting to drive. Through it, the driver's behavior on the road is monitored and information is obtained related to certain events that may harm his track record or endanger his life: fines, violations or traffic accidents.

The purpose of this information is to involve parents in educating teen drivers and to enable them to participate in their development as responsible drivers.

How do I register for the TEENS program?

According to the New York City Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the TEENS system accepts registrations from parents with child drivers under the age of 18 through two channels:

Why does this program exist?

According to the New York DMV, statistics show a huge number of teenagers who die in traffic accidents, with those aged 16 to 17 being the most affected group. This number is also exceeded in cases resulting in bodily injury, and can be justified both by the reckless behavior of some teenagers and lack of driving experience.

For this reason, DMV created this tool with the goal of creating an educational environment for young people to become responsible drivers.
