How to use a pruning saw?

Before you start
	Carefully inspect the saw before use Check the blade for any wood shavings or sap that may have gotten stuck in the teeth as they prevent the saw from cutting properly. Remove debris, being careful not to cut yourself. Make sure the teeth are sharp, not bent or deformed.
	If you are sawing large branches, cut from above. When cutting large branches (for example, 5 cm thick), you should try to position yourself so that you cut from above. Larger branches will require more force to cut, so working from above will mean you'll be able to cut more easily as gravity pulls the blade down anyway.
	Cutting a large branch from below can become awkward and quickly tiring as you have to hold the blade above your head. If you are sawing a large branch from below, you risk injury when the branch eventually breaks off. So cutting from above also means you're safe if the branch breaks unexpectedly.
	Should you push or pull? Most pruning saws cut with the pull moving, so force must be applied when pulling the saw through the wood. If you force both strokes when the saw is only cutting one, you won't cut faster and you'll just get tired.
Starting your cut
	Step 1 - Press the blade into the material Hold the blade against the surface of the material you wish to cut. Step 2 - Pull the saw towards you When you're ready, pull the saw back toward you, pushing down in one long motion.
	Step 3 - Move the saw forward and backward Slowly move the saw back and forth while pressing down on the push stroke and loosening the pull stroke to remove excess material.
	Pruning saws have rather large teeth, so the cut should be formed after only a few strokes, and the sawing process will be much easier. Pruning saws are designed for trimming tree limbs or sawing logs to size, so they will typically produce a very rough finish.
