How to use a floor saw?

Before you start

Should you push or pull?

Most parquet saws cut only in the push stroke, although some can cut in both the push and pull stroke.

Straight edge cutting

The straight edge of the floor saw blade can be used to cut the floorboards before they are installed. To do this, press the blade against the surface of the board and pull the saw back towards you, applying very slight downward pressure in one long, slow motion.

After the first cut is made, you can start to increase your speed until you have a steady sawing rhythm.

Curved nose cutting

Most floor saw models have a curved nose with teeth running along the outer edge.

This feature is ideal for starting a cut in the center of already laid floorboards when there is no free edge to cut.

How to use a floor saw?To start the nose cut, you must grasp the handle with your dominant hand and gently push the nose of the saw against the floorboard, applying very little downward pressure in a short but smooth motion.

Once the front end has cut through the board, you can turn the saw around and complete the cut with the straight edge of the blade.
