Step 1. Secure the machine
First of all, you will need to raise the car with jacks. It is important for your safety that your machine is on a level surface and well balanced on jacks! Also remember to wait a bit if you have just used your vehicle so that the exhaust system cools down properly and thus avoids burns.
Step 2: Prepare the support
Start by looking for a hole in your exhaust pipe and clean up the area around the hole or crack. The goal is to remove all dirt and rust that might interfere with the good adhesion of the putty. You can use a clean cloth to remove dirt.
Step 3: Apply the first coat of putty.
A putty knife is often included with a putty kit to help you apply a layer of putty. If you don't have a spatula, you can use a screwdriver, for example. Apply a layer of putty all over the hole, do not cover the hole with it.
Step 4: apply a bandage
Then, apply a suitable bandage to the exhaust pipe around the opening. The edges of the bandage should cover the hole. Use a screwdriver to screw on the bandage.
Step 5: Apply a second coat of putty.

Step 6: let the bandage harden
Leave the dressing to harden at least overnight to allow the sealant to harden and last as long as possible. Once the tire is dry, you can hit the road again in your car!
